Anyone had experience with MTU's? Where would they fit in with CAT's and Cummins as far as reliability, cost to repair and so forth?

Thanks Guys. Looking at a 63SS with MTU's.

Was a German company owned by Daimler (Mercedes) who acquired Detroit diesel Corp, now owned by a Swedish firm. Expect Mercedes quality mechanicals and prices for parts. I think most US Detroit Diesel service companies service MTU engines, but there are far fewer of t hem than Cat, Cummins, etc. because they tend to concentrate on the high hp sector of the market. As with any engine, how they have been run and cared for is a lot more important than who made them or their color.

Thanks for the response Frank. Makes total sense.
