I need help in solving a problem on my 1987 270 Amberjack throttle/shifter controls. Ever since I purchsed the boat in '95 the shifters don't give a solid neutral "click" making knowing if it is in gear or not a bit of a guessing game. I replace the original Quicksilver (terrible) controls with Morse SR controls and replaced the cables. I had the same problem. Being lazy, I have just put up with it over the years as I know the boat and can "feel" and hear (rpm uptick) when it is in neutral. But it is still annoying in close quaters. The cables have now begun to stiffen and the problem is getting worse. I intend to replace them with the new Teleflex Extremes. Does any one know where I can find the correct (factory) cable lengths I need for the 1987 Amberjack 270 twin installation? I think the controls are fine but any other advice on fixing this problem the right way would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Greg

I have an 88 270 AJ and my shift cables freeze up and am replacing them this spring. Same issue you have
