Hello to All,
Just picked up a 1970 Sea Ray SRV 190 I beleive? If Anyone Can break down the HIN Here It is 7019010346? Seems to be in good overall shape. Engine runs on carb cleaner needs a new fuel pump, Oh, sorry getting ahead of myself. Boat is white in color, Has white seats, Wood grain on dash is trashed. The 250 I-6 Has good compression and like I said it runs nice and quiet on carb cleaner. Need to redo the interior and the fuel system, Rebuild a proper engine cover and rear seats and sun deck lounge. Hull just needs a good cleaning and polishing. The bow rails are missing, as is the rear cover, and rear seats and carpet. I will start enjoy this project today, looking for help finding parts like the S/S railing. Dare I ask for dimensions or schemtics of the engine cover and rear seat. Any pictures would help also and even the Sea Ray site has very little on this year Sea Ray.
Well, I hop I am not asking to much, too soon.
Thanks in advance for helping with this fine project of mine.

Michael

Welcome to the site. Check out my profile and see the redo. Here are some pictures of the rear area. Mine is a 76' SRV200 with 5.0. I'm not sure how you interior looked but you can use mine and some others on the site for reference.

Thanks for the pics. OldSKool, Your boat looks great. I will use your boat as a guide. Not sure how or with what material to insulate the engine cover? Thinking of using some 1/2 inch hardwood paneling that comes in 4X6' sheets for about 16 bucks a sheet at the local BDC store. Then build the frames and seat tops and cover them in marine vinyl if I can find it. The family wants to have a 36 inch padded sun deck in the back so, I still have some things to figure out.
On a different note, what type of fluid should I use in the trim and tilt motor?
Thanks Again for your help.

Hi! I'm Rouse and I'm new here. I'm looking forward to learn new things from you guys and also share my knowledge as well.

Michael,
I used 3/4 marine plywood for the cross support structure and 1/2 for the actual engine cover. 2X2 non pressure treated for the sub structure for the seat area. and 3/4 plywood for the seat base with 3 1/2" foam for the cushions. Use non pressure treated and paint all the wood. Pressure treated will leach through and discolor the vinyl and you can't use spray glue to tack it the vinyl down.
I picked up the marine grade vinyl at a local fabric shop and it came in 52' wide if I remember correctly. I'm not good with a sewing machine so all my panels are the same color with no fancy stripes or blazes. I stapled most of my panel vinyl and used very little spray glue as I will change the color in the next few years. I never keep anything the same very long. (I'm changing my sig pics all the time.)

Since the engine cover is the most complicated, build it first then add everything around it. At least I have the original to work with. You can see by my pictures how much space you should have around the engine for decent ventilation. All the understructure for the seats should stay open to the engine to add for more air low.
Make sure you have at least 2 inches clearance around the engine sides and 6-8 on top above the spark arrestor.

Make sure at least one of the blower suction tube is low and around the fuel line/ filter side of the engine. My battery is located on the port side of the engine in an enclosed approved plastic battery box with a main kill switch. Make sure it's bolted down and equipped with a cover strap.

All the control cables, electrical, and fuel lines run down the starboard side behind the panels.
I wanted to put a sundeck on mine too but ran out of time and motivation so I settled for the original compartment cover the makes up the rear seat head rest. (Yellow long panel in the back). I'll see if I can make up some drawings of the engine cover and how I thought I would build the sundeck.

Attach some pictures of your project as you go along.

Welcome aboard Rouse. Attach some pictures of your boat. I don't see any info in you profile. What type of boat do you have and where are you located?
