Finally made it out to the boat yesterday, have work done at our house and daughter is on the move so it has been keeping my weekends busy. I finished the stereo installation (posted it in another thread), but in short I replaced the stock clarion system with:
Pioneer 1dim head unit - MVH-X370BT: nice untit, no CD, bluetooth, phone, all the bells and whistles you would expect.
Pioneer GM-A6704 amplifier, 60w x 4
4 Polk Audio speakers - 2 DB-651 (6.5") in the cockpit, and 2 DB-521 (5.25") in the bow.
I know this isn't top of the line, but man what an improvement, the boat is the one place I really enjoy good music. I've scoped out a possible spot for a subwoofer, but that's another project, plan to enjoy what I have for awhile.
The other small thing I did and what I would like opinions on is, I replaced an old 12v receptacle with a USB charger. One that lights up, kinda nice at night. So what I realized is it has power all the time, the old 12v socket was wired to an accessory fuse on the panel that is always powered. I didn't like the idea of this be powered on all the time, wasn't sure how much it would draw down the batteries over a couple of weeks away from the boat. So I wired it to the accessory switch on the ignition, so it is powered only when the ignition is on or in the accessory position. Wondering how most others do it.
