Battery load tested ok but generator battery energizer switch will not stay on, therefore generator will not start. Would the problem possibly be with the solenoid?

Any advice is appreciated!

by "generator battery energizer switch" do you mean the momentary switch you push to trigger the solenoid and engage starter?

There are 3 "battery energizer switches on the main electrical panel. One for the port side, one for starboard side, and one for the generator. Unless these switches are energized, the associated components do not receive DC power. These are separate from the pre-heat and starter switch for the generator and from the panel key switches for each engine which have to be switched on prior to operating the engine starter switches.

Try the identical switches in the engine room to see if the generator relay also fails to latch in the energized state using that control too.

The wiring diagrams for this boat sucks!

I've created new diagrams for many sections, as required, that reflect the wiring on the vessel, instead of the general junk they provide.

This section has not been re-done by me yet.

The relay is latched using old-fashioned relay logic, but that is not shown in the wiring diagram.

Neither the engine room generator switch or the cabin panel switch will energize.

I had this exact same problem, it was a blown fuse. The solenoids and fuses are under the black cover on the left on the front of the engine room wall.

Glad to see that this one is being discussed. When I hit the Port Battery Switch I can hear it engage but the light won't come on to show that and the battery volt meter will read Zero. It I hit it again then it will light up and the meter reads normal. Guess I need to try the one in the engine room and go from there....

I have had similiar on mine. For some reason - when I hit the breaker in the cabin area - it won't always come on. But I have never had a problem in starting my generator... But, I have tried it where I go right to the main panel in the engine compartment - and no problem - turn it on - and it lights up... But, I know on mine, I can start it without that light being on???

Just a dumb thing to check...the main breaker right on the generator wasn't flipped off ?? Maybe during maintenance in winter someone turned off? That will prohibit it from turning on!

Sounds exactly what is going on with my Port Switch. I can hear it engage but didn't try starting the port engine. Everything under the hatch looks good. I'm going to check the relays to make sure everything is clean.
