Boat Info
89 Sea Ray 220 DA, purchased 2021. V6 Merc with 9.9 Merc kicker.
Engines
V6 MerCruiser
A friend of mine has been encouraging me to get into boating and a local marina connection recommended a 89 Sea Ray 220 in great condition that was available. So, done and done!

My boating experiences up to now were in low-power open fishing boats so this is a big step up for me. I will be asking some really basic questions--the boat has just been purchased today but I don't take possession until all the paperwork is complete (and I have paid in full)--likely sometime Wednesday this week.

Cheers to all!

Welcome to the cult. If you would kindly deposit the quart of blood and the toe nail clippings from your first born.

Welcome. You will find a wealth of info. And the number of great guys and gals with more knowledge of the Sea Ray boat, is insurmountable. Enjoy your new boat(when you get it) and all the learning that will come with it.

LOL…. Pay attention to the “not go” part

Yes the lake empties into a slow-moving river that at certain times of the year may *just* have enough navigable channel for the DA 220.

But not recommeded lol... especially when there is so much else to explore!

What kind of friend is this…. Did he tell you how much it costs. :)
Good luck and welcome .. and obviously your friend said nothing about pics….. we need pics

Yes, I have heard the "two happiest days" story and I get it, and expense was one of my objections for getting into boating in the first place.

But... our pre-pandemic vacation pattern is not going to be possible again in the forseeable future, we both like the water and the idea of coming home, going to the boat (10 minutes away) and getting out onto the lake (or even a picnic dinner at the dock) sounds like a plan.

It is funny how the lake only 10 minutes away feels like another world when you get there. Fresh air, mountain views, the lake--it is very easy on the eyes and good for the soul.

Pics will come when we get it in the water (I hope by the weekend).

You already got the disease. Enjoy it and welcome to CSR.

PS This part "two happiest days" is total bullshit.

Yes I think so too. The guy I bought the boat from was selling because of poor health. I think I closed the deal when I invited him to visit her whenever he was able--my slip is just down the dock from "his" spot for 10 years...

Uh oh….(with translation ?)
One of my boating buddies (JackieJV on here - had a 560DB for years) is from Newfoundland and I lived about 10 years in Nova Scotia in University years and a few after, so had quite a few Newf friends. There are a lot of great expressions in Newfoundland so for some reason I thought I would ask the question that way LOL.
Long may your big jib draw.

One that really confused me when I first heard it was: "Dat who knit ya?"
(Is that your mother?)
