Who's going to the boat show this weekend? looks like we'll be there on sat.

I hit it yesterday Mike. Much less depressing than last year. The usual suspects for the bigger boats - Sea Ray, Meridian (although they had only their two smallest models), Cruisers including the 48 Cantius, Regal to 42', the Sabre 40, one Azimut and a nice showing from Formula.

If you go, make a point of seeking out Annapolis School of Seamanship's setup. Their computerized simulation system is unbelievably cool and realistic - it will be a huge draw over the weekend. Try to just go by and watch it if you don't have the chance to run it. I cruised past Governor's Island and up the east river in the rain on an eighty foot motor yacht in a light chop. Didn't think I'd be doing that last night!

I had been considering an S.H. HX-851 handheld and wanted to see it in person last night. West Marine had it and other offerings cheaper than anything I've seen online and will honor boat show prices on anything not stocked at the show. Spoke with the Icom guys and got the word on their forthcoming GPS-enabled handheld - I'll be holding out to see that in the spring.

If you didn't get yours yet, plenty of discounted tickets to be found online with a quick search.

Have fun.

I've never been to the AC show, not sure. I like all of the vendors. But this year I'm NOT going to buy rescue tape. I've got about 20 rolls of the stuff.

I'll be going tomorrow, despite what I expect will be long lines. Dinner at Delfrescos and staying at the Waldorf for the night.

Miami? they don't have dirty water hot dogs there.

Miami again this year!!!

I'll be at the Miami show as well, most likely on Sunday. When will you be there? Maybe we can get together for a beer!!! I'm staying in South Beach.

I was at the NY show yesterday, as stated above it was better then last year.... I am just to close not to go. Bought my Jet Blue ticket allready for Miami!:smt038

Went on Thursday with the guys,

Fun and not busy, seemed better than last year and heard the "SOLD" bell at Searay three times.

I'll be there tomorrow (Sunday), with a group from my marina.

Well the show was pretty packed I have to say. Not a lot of big boats. Much more crowd control to view the boats. I didn't even go on one, the lines were just too long. I did play with the simulator though. I was cruising a CG boat in 30' seas. he stopped me after about 20 min because people watching were starting to get sick. Burnt my face off eating Habanero pepper jerky. Learned a lot about vacuflush systems from sealand. bought some other useless junk that I can't remember right now. then went out to dinner at El Quijote with Dancin Dave for some Garlic Chicken in a pot. mmmmmmm

That rescue tape does come in handy though. I've already had a few occasions to use it. I went to the show today, it was ok. The lines were a little long, but I got to skip to the front on a few of them.

Even had a dirty water dog on the way out.

But the best part was taking the ferry across the river, gives me a chance to be out on the water. (for a little while anyway)

Is this show much better than the AC show in Feb? I haven't been to it in many, many years? Brian

IMO, it's not very different show, but NYC one could be slightly larger. Most of the vendors we meet at either show, the display of boats could be a bit better. As you can see from other replies there aren't many larger boats, but the show is getting more crowded.

I'll bet Pig Dog kicked YOU out of the bed last night!

Alex, Thanks! Brian

Went to the show yesterday. It was ok, very crowded between noon and 4. As others have noted, not many big boats. Sea Ray had the 540 and 470, Azimut a 48 and as well as a Cantius 48. Being in the market to move up I was able to jump the lines with my salesman but didn't see anything of interest. Good sign to see the crowds, vendors commented it was a much better show than the last 3. Heard Marine Max ring the bell 5 or 6 times in the four hours I was there and they had already sold the 540 at the show.

That's funny, I ran into many people I knew yesterday but managed to miss you all. Thinking about Miami next.

Russ, I'll be in Miami on the 18th and 19th, probably going to the show on Sunday the 19th as I leave for the Keys that Monday morning. Maybe a few of us can get together down there. What are your plans?
