October weather

We have had 7 weekends in a row where at least one day it has rained. What fall boating?.

Finally got a good day last Sunday to move the boat up to Racine to her winter home. Buoy said 3’ but really was pretty calm. Had a nice ride.

Booked our weekend transient slip reservation at Old Town Alexandria, dinner reservations already booked as well. Forecast is up to 82° now.

Now, knowing my luck, THIS will be the trip where I hit a log.

It's been raining every weekend here for weeks. Between that and fall sports, no boating time.

Yesterday I started my winterization. I had people tell me to wait, next weekend is supposed to be sunny and warm. I'm booked the next 3 weekends so that doesn't work, so my season is done.

I tried to get one last ride in around the harbor as a way to warm up the oil. But the wind was howling, and no way I could get off the dock safely.
Booooo! I hate to see that photo.

Just got her back to my home port yesterday and now ready to start the 2023 boating season, lol. Plan on running her to mid December or so thanks to climate change.

Update request- so last we heard you had serious issues with the Volvols. Rented a boat for summer. What going on?
Long story short -
Fall of 2021 - new starboard long block installed
June of 2022 - discovered "knock" in bottom end and it was determined new long block failed
April of 2023 - another new volvo long block installed and immediately failed during sea trial.
July of 2023 - charted a Jeanneau NC 33 for 1.5 weeks (thanks insurance!)
Oct of 2023 - another new volvo long block installed and working so far.

Life was simpler when I had the sailboat, lol.

Ugh, and oh geez. Glad you are back on the water.

Ended up having a fantastic weekend in St. Michael's. Got to meet Skybolt, which was an extra benefit! The weather was fantastic, the Ravens won, and even the ride home Monday was great. They were calling for increased winds on Monday and we got home and in our slip in dead calm. 10 minutes later, the wind picked up big time. Couldn't ask for a better for boating weekend! The October trip to Saint Michaels has become an annual tradition for us. We are so reluctant to say goodbye to this season that we are considering boating over for their winter parade in December
