Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

We did check the fuel pressure and was fine. I changed the filter and ran for a bit and then shut down again. Tach is all over the place when it shuts down. My batteries are junk and a merc mechanic told me that might be the problem. I'm replacing all three batteries tomorrow and will see how it goes.

The oxygen sensor sounds interesting too, but I didn't know there was a separate filter.

Thanks for the help!

Vida,

Great picture! Love the custom aft bimini. Can you tell me where you had that made and what it cost, if you don't mind me asking. My only complaint with our 310 is lack of sun cover when sitting at the table. I'm very interested in a bimini like yours. Also, does it fold down so you can put the aft covers on?

Any info would be helpful. Thanks

Hi 737 I purchased the boat with it. Now these are very popular on the SR. My understand it was manufacture at one of the marinas by companies that manufacture the tuna fishing towers. This is a great addition since I have added covers all away around which I use when docked or stored. The nice thing is, when using the overall cover you can use the complete back sitting area since it doesn't have the 45 degree angle of a stock cover. We also made just for the back side a cover without sides which we use to block the sun but let's in the fresh air. The unit was preapred that you can also fold it in half towards the front, I think mostly for fishing so its out of the way if required. Overall it great.

Had some problems with Starboard motor running a little hot and actually after two hours will start slowing down. Port motor running fine. I have 150 hours on each. Had the motors both checked out by a mercruiser specialist and said that he things the impellors need to be changed but everything seems to be in great shape. He explained that warm vapors from the motor running a little hot after a long run will actually make it act up. Has anyone ever heard of this. In the meantime I am getting the impellers changed as he suggested.

VPR147. I had the same problem. If your boat has the fuel cooling system and the temperture begins to rise it tell the EMC 555 that there a problem and your RPM begin to go down to protect the engine. I replaced the impellers which for me corrected the problem. The 300 hp MPI operate at about 170 to 175F. Hope all go's well.

Bob,

How easy is it to change the "buttons" panel? Mine is cracked and would like to replace it.

Engine Trouble ... Looking for some help ....

My boat is in plane at about 3200 where it goes about 21-23 kts. Since the last couple weeks when I first go out everything seems normal. After a couple hours the synchro is going crazy settling all the way to the right (strbd) side and it will not be in sync unless the engines' RPMs are 800 RPMs apart and it will not go over 14 kts at 4800rpms. Yesterday it was acting the same way for about half an hour then it got up in plane and everything seemed ok again.

Is this transmission trouble (slipping)? electronics? Any ideas ?

Are you talking about the rocker switchs.
if so, it is easy. Just write down where each wire connects to each switch.
i would suggest that you change one switch at a time.

It sounds like your loosing power on your startboard engine. Perhaps its going into guardian mode due to overheating, loss of fuel pressure or ignition. When was the last time you did a tune up?

It was tuned up during launch, btw: oil pressure and water temp. are steady on both engines.

george2064 - I would check the fuel pressure. First item to check would be the vaccum lines that come from the fuel presure regulator to assure it has no lose conections / holes or that its pinched somewhere. Second check your fuel pressure, his can be done on the fuel rail. The pressure should be the same during idle and higher RPM's. For my MPI 300's its 43#. I had the same issue and found that by fuel pressure regulator was bad. $ 102 dollars and pretty easy to change. The regulator is found on the top of the fuel cooler unit. It also has a mesh which can sometime get clogged with dirt restricting flow at specific times. Hope this help. Vida.

Great info ... I will check it out thank you

OK... Recent tune up would leave ignition on the back burner. You say temp stays within range, so overheat seems to be out. The only thing left is Fuel Pressure. Vida described some good options. I would test the fuel pressure first. You can find several threads that can help you or just request it and you will get steps here.

I don't think your transmission is the issue. Unless you have sterndrives. I am assuming you have V-drives. You could have a loose prop or broken bearing, but this would give you NOTICABLE vibration.

Just a quick observation; are you sure all your plugs are firmly seated? What you described happened to me when #7 plug was loose. Everytime I hit a wave it would loose connection and the port would lose power. All of a sudden it would act like nothing ever happened.

CABIN LEAK....Has anyone had a leak resulting in some water settling on the counter to the right of the sink? It looks like it is coming out from where the wall meets the counter. I have already sealed the hatch above the counter, but can't figure out where else it would come from. Thank you!

The only thing I can think of is the main hatch in the center of the bow or the port side navigation light.

Thank you. I did seal the navigation light and my next step is the center hatch. Was curious if anyone else had the same issue in same spot. Thanks again....

:thumbsup:Jackson, Behind the sink area next to the TV station is were I understand your having the problem. There is a vent hole in that area. I would check to see if it is sealed or if the vent hose has come lose. The vent hole uses a cover to avoid water from entering-check if its there or the seal is defective. Another items is the water lines that run below the sink if there is a broken line (pin hole type) it can spray water towards the wall area.

Has anyone changed the "Power Vent" for the cabin (location and where to purchase a replacement)? Mine stopped and before I start taking the cabinets apart I figured I would ask here.

Thanks!
