Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

It comes as a kit for each motor and the kit was roughly $1600/motor. It came with all of the hose necessary, all of the pre-formed fiberglass elbows (some real big pieces) and the water lift muffler itself. It's definitely not cheap if you aren't already having a problem. They may have made some mods to yours in 2000 and solved the problem. I believe that '98 in particular was a horrible exhaust design. Which is why sea ray helped me out a little. What they didn't tell me is that I would have to make my own platforms to put the mufflers on. I had custom 3/4" starboard made up for me from a buddy with a C&C machine. I also had to move a couple of ground bars, move the strainers and move the anitfreeze overflow reservoirs in order to make the new mufflers fit in place. Also, the main exhaust outlet from the top of the lift muffler had a 5' preformed fiberglass elbow that went out to the main exhaust which had to be custom cut to fit (scary cutting that expensive piece.)You also need double the 5" stainless hose clamps which aren't cheap. Other than that it's a whole bunch of stainless hardware and silicone. None of the hose in the kit is cut to fit, you have to cut it yourself. If everything was right and I didn't have to custom everything it would've been done in a day...but you know nothing on a boat "drops right in" i've learned that the hard way...it was an interesting job to tackle thats for sure. I have some before pictures, and i'll grab some after pics this weekend if you are interested.

You are correct the 2000 model was changed. Also they added a 3" extention between the manifold and risers.

Note! Someone sometime back posted something on installing a ice maker on the side storage area next to the front sitting area.
Has any one done this? Need to get something to maintain ice. Any ideas? DSC00119q (WinCE).JPG

I installed a small fridge there.... is that what you are talking about? I don't remember anyone shoving an ice maker in there.

I do remember Sea Ray saying something about an extension on later models. Unfortunately adding the 3" risers on the '98 wasn't an option because of how close the risers are to the deck hatch.

Also, I remember a post about an ice maker, search this forum for "U-Line" I wanna say that was the type of ice maker someone put in.

Brad, Thanks for the info. I figured it would be a couple grand at least but 3200 $ is quite a lot. Mine does have the extensions as indicated and since I have no problems I will continue running the boat as is and keep an eye on things. Thanks again for your input.

Thank,I 'll look it up. The idea and project was pretty nice they had removed the door to place the ice maker inside the space and then prepared a frame covering the outside gaps around the ice maker.

Does anybody have any bilge photos of updated exhaust? Wife and I have been looking at moving up to a 310. I've read several post on water ingestion with these models.
The 98-99 models are what we're looking at. Not sure if I'd be interested in one that hasn't had update done. Thanks

Did you connect to the Raymarine Radar? mine is connected to the Radar as well. How do you like the Garmin 740?

Have not hooked up a radar. My boat did not come with one. Never really needed radar so not made it a priority. If I ever do get one it will probably be a Garmin.

Regarding how I like the 740, I love it! When I bought it the Raymarine e7 was released and I debated between both. After looking at the options, and how they applied to me, I chose the Garmin. In my case it was the best option for the money. The e7 is a great unit and more up to date with technology, but if you are not into wifi and expensive options you pay for something you won't use. If they both would have cost the same, I would have chosen the e7. Food for thought.

I gave these pink spots on my seats and can't seem to take them out. I think they are from the mechanics when they launched the boat in the spring.

Any ideas what to use to take them out?
