Official 270 SLX Thread (There HAS to be enough of us!)

I have a 2008 SLX 270 . My question is my Smart Kraft is not fully operational on the display. If you see attached photo i marked it out with a yellow box. This display is sometimes disordered and sometimes just a blank screen . Other times it will freeze . And sometimes it fully works with no problem. The display is not cracked and it is clear. Anyone ever have this issue and how did you correct it. The Tack that shows RPM always works. The LED lights up no problem. Do you think its a loose wire or a bad fuse ?

No recurring issues, but there are some nuances. The owners manual and parts manual show the fuses and wiring in great detail - might want to print out those pages.
The 496 is known to eat plugs and wires, so be prepared to watch for that.
It is also a large, hot motor. Keeping the raw water pump and water inlet passages in good shape is critical. My boat, and one other that I know of, had the raw water inlet tube/fitting go bad and limit water intake causing overheating.

Also, it is not a self bailing boat, so keeping the bilge pumps operational is important.
Just had to replace my raw water intake and also my plugs. Made a huge difference. I’m in salt water and i wish there was a way to flush it out after each use.

Anybody know if there’s a stereo head unit that I can replace the factory clarion with so that the stereo controls on my steering wheel will continue to work?

I have a 2011 SLX.
Not sure what you have at the helm but this unit took the place of the remote at my helm.

I had to open the hole up just a hair with a dremel but all and all I’m really happy with it.
Also I can’t say whether it will work with your steering wheel controls.
Sorry I don’t have more information.

Hello everyone. I have a 2015 270 SLX and a question. My boat comes with a submersible swim platform but I cannot find the switch that operates it. Many other Sea Ray boats have the switch in the transom area but I can't find one. The only thing I could find is the override switch for operating the platform for when engine is running, which is located in the caddy area under the throttle.

Your help is appreciated.

I have an SLX 280 a few years newer, so can’t speak specifically to your layout, but in case it helps, my submersible swim platform control is located on the starboard side along the stern passthrough to the swim deck (adjacent to my battery switches).

Thank you but it is not anywhere in the stern area.

Only one place for the switch, as mentioned above, transom walkthrough.

Thank you Paul but it is not located at the transom walkthrough. I'll try to upload a video later. I'm now starting to think the previous owner decided to remove the switch and sealed the hole.

Seems unlikely. Are you sure you have the swim step? Can you post pictures? Did you look behind a pull down cover (that's where it is on my 2018)?

Finally I located the switch. It's inside the port side compartment at the top of the engine hatch. We normally don't use it and I had forgotten there's an compartment under the cushion.

Thank you all for your help.
