For those that have had success in running a cable from the helm back to the electrical cabinet, any insight here?I was able to run a new wire through the headliner to the helm. It wasn't hard... just a little tedious.
I took out the drivers side panel, routed mine down into the engine room, over to under the stairs, then into the Bathroom, under the vanity, behind the toilet, and then up to the head unit. You have to take the fridge out. Its fun!For those that have had success in running a cable from the helm back to the electrical cabinet, any insight here?
Pull the overhead (long oval) salon light fixture down and shoot across the top and down behind the power panel?
I currently have the dash ripped apart due the old chart-plotter failing. I want to get an NMEA2K cable run back to the head unit. I don't see any opening going in that direction but maybe I am not looking hard enough. There is still an old clarion helm remote mounted but the wires were clipped beneath so that's no help... just another hole to patch.
Ugh.. exactly what I was not wanting to hear. I went that route when installing aft speakers. The rest the NMEA backbone is run up through the arch so I was hoping to stay up top. I'll get some flashlights shining with a helper next week and see what I can find. I went with a Nova Kool R1600. The issue with the Isotherm (a nicer unit) was height and depth. It bumped up against the actuator for the adjustable helm seat. The Nova Kool fits without any interference. All of them require enlarging the height and width of the icemaker opening. Not sure what you could fit in that space. looks like those Ice makers run about 14 inches wide and the Isotherm cruise 49 model is 15"W, so maybe that one with a little trimming might work.
Did a little more scoping around behind the dash this past weekend and found the old stereo wired remote cable had been run up top through the salon headliner. Still need to pull the main panel, and hopefully find the other end there to use to pull the new NMEA cable back.
