Winterizing the boat I realized how much easier it would be if I had a bilge monkey.

I have some questions for those of you that have a bilge monkey. Where did you get it? Where do you keep it? Do you just feed it bananas or do you need to vary their diet? Do they make a big mess or can you train them to pretty much be self sufficient?

I do have a bilge monkey. He did a great job on all the fall work, cleaned the bilge and installed clean diapers. Just got his bill yesterday in the mail. At least he comes to my home so Friday all I have to do is drive the boat into the Travel Hoist at 8:30, wipe down the boat and drive the TT up north for a color tour. Michigan is beautiful this year.

Size is the key. I was unfortunate in that mine was left behind in WI. He was very small and thin, and could fit into places I couldn't dream of fitting into.

Once you get them in the bilge your best bet is to keep them there and feed them beer and tools. I find the more they have to climb in/out the higher the bill gets.

I dont have a bilge monkey but I do have a 5 year old little boy that is a chip off the old block except he fits in small places and like to find lost nut bolts and sockets for daddy.

Here's what you need. We've talked about starting a marine repair service hiring exclusively little people as mechanics. Dont you dare steal our great idea!

No bilge monkey here, just a trunk monkey:smt038

Handy to have around. I'll have to ask him if he will work the bilge too.

OK now on the chance I might be off topic (my disclaimer) when I read this thread title I thought you were calling your mechanic a bilge monkey.:wow: I just had to say I was quite shocked at the very un-pc title.

I'll be perfectly honest - I have no idea what a bilge monkey is. I'm just going along for the ride here.
