Ok great news from the racor people(to me anyway). I saw a prototype "tattle tale" gauge at the racor booth. Not even a part number yet and the only one at the show. 100.00 part but worth it. replaces out the old gauge and will replace the old style on new systems to come. There is a second needle that remains at the highest restriction number so when you stop the boat or do your prestart check, you will know to change your filter. This is a big help so you dont have to go in the engine room underway to see if there is a restriction. Change the filter and reset the needle on the gauge. They agree as I have experienced first hand, youre either filtering fuel and running, or not filtering fuel and are shutting down. No in between. This will be a big help, and it can be installed at the helm as well.
Couple other points I learned at the booth. On the 900 or 1000 30 or 10 micron is required. You choose its personal preferance. Teflon tape works but the teflon pipe dope offers a sealant qaulity.
These guys are great, they spent the time to disscuss the whole system and even gave me 4 free bottles of racor fuel additive.
Boy thats another thing I noticed at this show, now more than ever fuel additives were big at the show, everyone had them. Except the engine mfgs ? I'll start another topic on that.
