Just installed a 9hv Raymarine Element gps. It came with a Navionics card. Setup was smooth but after adding homeport as a waypoint and pressing goto, it just plots an as the crow flies straight line course. My tablet Navionics plots a functional course.
At set up I saw a need a Navionics subscription warning flash quickly. One would think a new in the box would at least include a free trial. If that is the issue how to I get my current subscription I use on the tablet functionality on the Element 9hv?
Thank you for any help!

With Garmin it is a separate subscription that has nothing to do with the one you have on a tablet. And there isn't a free trial.

EDIT: This also pertains to Raymarine.

Same here... My phone and Ipad do correct auto route but my $4k RM is a POS !!!

Still looking for the answer. If you need a separate subscription from the phone and tablet subscription how is that accomplished on the Raymarine element?

Pull the card out of the raymarine and stick it into a computer. I believe it will do the rest. You will need a subscription and it will need to be renewed every year. Garmin has patented this feature for MFDs and is holding it back from raymarine, unless you subscribe to their maps.

alternatively, I think you can automatically route on your iPad and then transfer to your raymarine.

The go to function is just that…go to, as in direct. As opposed to the auto route function which will attempt to find a route to your destination.

Raymarine (Axiom at least, not sure what capabilities the Element has) does auto route based on your boats characteristics. I find it marginally useful, as bridges and other obstacles cause it problems.

One problem I noticed with RM AutoPilots is the goto feature and route to feature requires the data too not include Waypoint names. Turning off that makes things work as they should. The issue most MFD's have that on by default, it even gets turned back on after flashing firmware at times.

I removed all except the one where I provided what I do to update the maps.
