Replace/upgrade LIGHT NAV MASTHEAD COMBO 24" CUST W/RADAR BND

Just saw this post. I went with the Edson Marine dual LED mast light. It was a direct replacement for the existing fixture. I reused the mast (custom bent tubing that is not available), and also replaced the mount as it was starting to corrode. So with a new LED light and a new mount it is better than new.

The light is pricey and appears to be a repackaged Attwood 7800 series light, but was the best option i saw out there.
Hi,
Im looking for a fix for the flimsy plastic connector between the masthead light and masthead base on my 2000 380DA. Ive noted the two parts you provided links for. Im wondering though, how does the mast physically connect to the base? If we have the same factory setup, my mast connects to the base at a horizontal angle and the Perko part you provided connects vertically and doesn’t appear to have the same connection type. Can you help connect these dots for me?

Ive attached a picture…though you can only see the orientation/placement…as the base is covered by duct tape.

Thanks!!
Paul

Been there done that, check out my videos, perhaps they will help you. If you insist on keeping that piece of crap perko you can do what I did, and screw the two pieces together.

That looks awesome…nice work!
However, Im not super motivated to invest significant money and time (drilling new holes, disrupting the radar array, and potentially creating other issues) in a 24 yr old boat. I was curious about Jgoedd99’s comments though regarding a “direct replacement”.

Also, whatever I do, it needs to be easily removable (or be able to fold down) to reduce height for bridges and for winter shrink-wrapping.

Thanks so much

Also, be aware of the wire polarity, as the LED's are polarity sensitive. I have worked on boats, vehicles and trailers that the owners swore the new LEDs were junk where the wiring polarity to the original light socket was backwards. Reversed it and they worked just fine.

I installed a Seaview dual platform mount with the Perko masthead light last year. The light did not work in the "anchor" all-round position. So I mentioned it to the rep at FLIBS last October and they were aware of the issue. Consequently they now supply their own light unit and they were kind enough to send one to me at N/C. It now works as it should.
