Rescued Black Lab

Wow. What can I say. That takes my breath away.

Last June we decided to become foster parents for dogs. In addition to our Irish setter and cocker spaniel, we have three foster Pitt Bulls hanging out with us. Six total since June.

Most of them come to us, neglected and sad looking.

So, you crawled out on the ice and got wet to save this dog and the owners who keep the dog in a cage just took him back like nothing happened? What trash! Why do people have dogs that they do not care about? Sickening.

Good job man, that’s awesome that you were able to save him and didn’t wind up in a bad spot doing it. Sorry to hear that he isn’t from such a great home. There’s a special hell for people who mistreat dogs.

Rüger says thank you too!

Pretty much. My wife is happy tho ;)

Edit: she’s happy we saved him, not happy about the owners.

All the dog pics have me thinking about Maverick. We’ve been talking about a dog for the last year. Maybe after our trip this Winter.

He found one of my pheasant feathers today.

GD Ollie, Maverick is beautiful! You kicked ass today.

I don’t know. There was no interest by them. I didn’t want anything, and wouldn’t have taken anything, but they were basically like, ‘thanks, see yeah later….’ Reminded me of a short fat Cousin Eddie in Vacation.
Well that is too bad about the owners. But great job saving the dog. You saved him from an ugly death.

Look at that face. Time for a second rescue mission

He's looking at you with 'those eyes', you know the ones....the bond has been made. He's going to be showing up at your house whenever he gets the chance.

I think someone is telling you something. Maverick should be yours. When you get back go talk to the dickhead owner and offer him $50. If he refuses, someone here probably “knows a guy” who can help.

If he does, I’m not telling anyone.

In full disclosure, the dog came from the local Reservation.

It’s my understanding dogs escaping this place has happened before. The best approach next time for these owners is notify the police. Then they’ll get a fine.

My old lab, Sailor, is looking down from heaven and smiling down on you and Maverick for what you did.

Sailor showed up one day and let us know he was here to stay. He was not chipped, no collar and just came in and made himself at home.

We had no way of knowing how old he was but the vet guessed he was about 12 years old. Brightest, most intuitive dog I've ever owned.

Four years later when his hips gave out he couldn't get up we had to have him put down.

Saddest day of my life.

Not the ending I expected. Pretty sad really. This is my guy this morning as I watch the local news at 4:30 am. View attachment 157819

Yep, definitely sad. The way some people treat their dogs I wonder why they have them to begin with. Sometimes the dogs get the couch and I get the floor.
