Saturday we had the remnants of the massive storm that swept through the US. We got very high winds (80-100kph) and some snow.
My wife and I had plans to go out shopping in a neighbouring town, so I went out in the morning as the wind was kicking up and checked on stuff outside. The winter cover was blowing like mad but everything was pretty solid.
The trailer is a steel dual axle, both axles were up on 6x6 blocks as I had the wheels off for winter replacement, at the time, there was wheels/tires on the front axle with the wheel bolts stuck in a few threads just to keep them there.
Here is what it looked like at 10:00am
We did our thing, went for dinner, blah blah.
We got home around 10:00pm and when I parked I noticed something odd. The bow wasn't pointing where it usually is, in fact, it was almost in the garage.
I did a quick check around, the front of the trailer fell off its blocks and landed on the tongue jack, the whole unit moved/swung 5 feet towards the house. The drivers side of the trailer fell off its blocks and landed, and dragged on the one loosely fitted tire, it was canted at a nasty angle. The other side was on the block by about 1.5".
This is what I saw in the morning:
That A-Frame under the hitch is what the trailer was sitting on further aft. I stuck it there in the night "just in case"
Had a friend come over and we fitted the tires and wiggled it back into place. I figure if the one tire was not on the trailer it would have gone right over.
