Hi guys/gals. We are in escrow on a Sea Ray Sundancer 630 with 12V92 Detroit Diesels.

I am trying to get a gauge on fuel consumption. We currently have a 55' Chris Craft Roamer in San Diego but we have relocated to Fort Lauderdale and don't have the available time to bring it around, so we are going to sell it. Our plan for the 630 is to make runs down the keys, out into the Bahamas, and pop around some fun places in the Caribbean.

Our Chris Craft at cruising speed gets about 1.5 Miles per gallon (if you translated into MPG). I have read that cruising RPM is 1900-2000 (seems really high to me). Cruising speed is listed everywhere from 21-35 Knots. Cruising speed to me means the fastest the vessel will go before breaking out of the economical mode, not sure thats what it actually means.. just what I think it does.

Does anyone have any experience they can share with me on this? Provided the surveys come back clean we will be bringing it down to Ft Lauderdale from Manhattan and I am looking for what to expect for range so we can plan the trip.

Thanks! I have not been able to find anything. I appreciate any feedback

Just a guess but typically you can expect .5mpg on these cruisers.

Our 500DA with 8V92s cruises mid 20s at 1800 RPM and we are burning 30-33 GPH.

2 6V92's bolted together for each side. .25 to .5 at cruise would be my guess. Run slow, and run all week. 63' will get a pretty good hull speed. Besides, if you were really in a hurry, you'd be in a jet.

Thats great info guys! I really appreciate it. Survey came back this afternoon, looks like alot of neglect. Its the model we want so we will keep hunting.
