Does anyone know if the track is attached with thru bolts or double sided tape?

I don't know that, but I have bought a replacement shower head that fits on the sliding holder (peg).

I tried to remove mine too....but was afraid of breaking the glass. Think its held on w double sided tape and screws under the both end clips. Looking for a replacement piece to hold the handle in a better place for the shower head...so the piece that actually holds the shower head. Plastic L probably describes it best

I just replaced the mixer valve and all three of the pex fittings to it. You might be able to see the back side of the handle/track by removing the mixer valve handle and cover plate. There should be a black plastic attachment point for the cover plate that you can move (I used a few zip ties so it didn’t fall into the void). Now the mixer valve can be moved enough to put a cell phone camera in there with the flash on to take a few pictures. I used this successfully after I let go of one of the pex lines and couldn’t find it by feel inside the wall.

For sure not double stick tape. Looks to me like the end caps slide off and expose a screw. I am sure over the years they are stuck on there. I would take a piece of wood and a hammer and gently tap them to get them to move outward.

I think it both...I took the end caps off and removed the screws and still no movement. When you look between the channel and the shower fiberglass, there is something filling the gap (doublestick tape?).
