Bit difficult to explain without getting agitated and wanting to do something stupid that I'll regret.
My dock neighbor (allegedly,) snapped my fishing rod in half and tossed it in the water. Then....if that wasn't enough, spit on my boat on the sea ray emblem on side of arch, facing his side.
I've never had more that two conversations with this guy and his wife, he's been at the dock about 6 times this season ( his engines are shot so they just sit and drink on the boat and leave). Was always polite and never gave me any indication that i may have pissed him off and i never had any issues with him in the past.
We were not on boat when this happened. We left that night, returned in the morning about 9. They were already gone. I noticed that my rod was missing then but figured my other neighbor borrowed it, ( happened in past with permission and i had no issues them using it at the dock).
I wanted to wash the boat down prior to heading out and that's when i noticed the nasty spit running down the emblem. Thought is was odd at first and thought maybe he just missed the water but wanted to believe it was bird poop and that's what i told the wife it was. Cleaned boat and went about our day.
1100 that afternoon wife and i head out on boat for swim and lunch and as we are returning back into the slip, wife is on rear deck spotting me in, hollers " looks like a fishing rod under water". We were coming in at low tide and with the right sunlight, sure nuff, fishing rod on the bottom. I figured I'll get it. Sure nuff, it was mine and snapped. So I'm peacing together the spit and broken rod and I'm truly lost. Spoke to harbor master about it and they said they will review the cameras to see if they can tell what happened.
I haven't spoken to my neighbors about it as im waiting for some solid feedback / evidence on what the videos may provide and wondering how some of you would handle this. But my gut is telling me it was them. Wife said season is over no need to get into it over a $20 walmart rod. Marina did say they will buy me a new one.
Frustrated in new New Jersey.
