So let's hear about and see your cars.

So many people discount the "GM Stepchildren" when thinking about performance cars. One of the hotter rides I ever owned was Buick's final call for the rear-wheel drive Regal, an '87 Grand National with the turbo'd 231 CI V6. Ran low 13's right out of the box. No, I can't find any pictures of it, but it looked like this:

We traded it in on a used conversion van so the wife could more easily load and unload the kids! Stupid kids...

I worked at a Buick dealership back in 87. I got the honors of doing the PDI on the GNX we sold. I love the Grand Nationals but that GNX was a different car. It really was pretty awesome.

Love the thrill of the chase. As a buyer we all reference bank value/KBB/NADA because they are generally lower than the asking prices. The "value" of these 04-05 M3 verts is literally around 10k, give or take. One listed for 20 and rejected 15 and said he's going to relist it in a few months for 23. The other is asking 18,500 and needs a little work so I offered 11, says he had an offer for 17. Fully expected both of my offers to be denied, which they were.

For me, the Manheim Market Report rules all....well, rules most anyway.

I did buy this car right, but am also in the biz of making a hit on anything I buy :)

Totally forgot about the Manheim report. Used to have access to that but don't anymore so I fly blindly and make insultingly low offers.

Negotiating, the thrill of the chase, I love it as well.

I love being on the selling side and watching how uncomfortable (and bad) people are with negotiating as well. I once had a guy low ball me and said it was because he would need to replace the faux wood knob on the shifter, which had normal wear for a 10 year old SUV, maybe a $15 part. Another guys once said "Cash offer, that's all the cash I brought with me". I said no, he went back to his car, came back with asking price cash.

And I always love the "first offer" comment Them: "What's the lowest you will take?" Me: "Um, asking price...or make an offer"

I was selling my 91 NSX to a guy and when it came time to negotiate price he said he was sorry but all he had in savings was X, about $5k less than asking.

I told him it probably wasn't a good idea spending all their savings on a toy. Here called me later that day to say he 'borrowed' the $5k and was ready to move forward.

Oh nice! Those cars are oddly not bad on a track. When I was in Scottsdale, I did a 3 day school at Radford (Formerly Bondurant) that I won playing the fantasy bid game. Had a blast with those.

The Redeye is a car that demands respect; it's HEAVY and has excessive power that will go for the wall in an instant. The power will step that back end out at any gear and any speed which makes it a ball after any corner's apex. 151 on the back straight at Sebring into that last turn and under the bridge then having to peddle going down the front straight across the Start/Finish paint so it doesn't break loose and put the car into the wall at turn 1. Then coming out of turn 1 and by chance shifting into 3rd when the concrete transitions (roughly) to asphalt and again sending the back of the car towards the wall. It is so much fun!

AKA real driving. Love it.

Freudian slip...

We will be cohabitating soon, currently planning an addition to my house; a first floor Master, ooops I meant Primary, bedroom with an en suite.
Figured. Wife, girlfriend, it's all good as long as they don't meet.

I don't know what a "primary" is. My wife and I sleep in the Master bedroom.

I am in the process of looking for a good '08 - '14 M3 with the 4.0l V8, SMG transmission and retractable hard top. Wife can't drive a manual. No aptitude for it.

That's the more politically correct term! No more Masters or Slaves!

I think you meant "incorrect" term. But my house has a Master Bedroom and I am the Master. Cody (Yellow Lab) thinks so anyway.

I have been contemplating selling my 4DR, black on black 2008 M3. It is manual however. Rod bearings and throttle actuators done.

I'm officially obsessed with finding an 04-05 M3 convertible manual for about 15k. So far the ones with the big three items addressed are newer and $30k+. There is a really nice one with a few mods asking 20k and it's in Modesto, CA so add about $1300 in transport costs. It's more than I want to spend and has 128k miles which according to all the BMW places I've called is absolutely nothing to worry about. Also a localish one in Baltimore asking 17.5 with 100k, no mods, original owner but it hasn't been registered for over 2 years. Something sounds fishy with this one.

Having the big three addressed is about $6000. Subframe reinforcement, VANOS rebuilt and rod bearings replaced.

I have also found some M6s that have had VANOS and rod bearings replaced and they aren't as pricey as I would have thought. My son, who researches this stuff for fun, tells me that is just the market for the M6. The M3s sell better.

I do like the engine note of the M6.
