So let's hear about and see your cars.

On instructing weekends I'd have 2 students each with four 20-25 minute sessions each day plus my own four sessions each day. Doing the math, that's around 8 solid hours being thrown around a track in a weekend. It's truly a beating and especially as you get older.
I feel for you, man. I don't think I could ever do that.

Have driven plenty, and know their characteristics well. That engine hangs way back behind the rear halfshafts. Cook it too hard into a sweeper, start to feel the front end wash out, the initial reaction is always to snap that throttle shut. Then front tires suddenly get a bite, and that engine acts as a flywheel trying to turn that car around.

This in-car vid on the 'Ring in a Ruf Yellowbird shows it well. This driver is amazing.

I do track days in my Redeye with my buddy who runs his 2008 911 Turbo AWD. He has done a lot of mods to his car and it's blindingly fast. Coming onto the back straight at Sebring he has me well out of turn 16 but at about mid way down that straight I've got him back then he is way deep compared to me on 17; I just can't brake that deep. And then he is gone. An impressive driver's car.
One thing missed in this 911 discussion is tire technology has firmed up these cars in the last ten or so years. A set of PS2's on that car is an amazing change.

Funny you mention that car. I never expected them to handle as well as they do, given the weight, but I had a blast at this school last January. Did a 3-day course. Wife and I are heading back there this coming January, she's taking that same intro course, and I'm doing the advanced. Great people, and very well-run. Lots of seat time also. We're there 3rd week of Jan, heading up to Scottsdale after for the Thurs-Sat Barrett sessions.

Yes they are spooky fast (205 MPH top speed and legit high tens on the quarter) and good handling especially if a widebody and the Pirelli tires are round-filed replaced with a set of PS4's; still 4400 pounds though. The stock Brembo brakes will fade and completely go away if run hard - Change compound and fluid and all will be good. I did the Ron Fellows school in Pahrump Nv (Corvette) and it was great. Radford is bucket list.

That car looks great. Currently looking for an F8 green redeye widebody. And yeah, our school cars were on P-zeros. Maybe for the best that they weren't on anything overly sticky. Agreed about brake fade. Not sure what pads they used, but after a good 20 minutes hot lapping, I would have to come in for a few minutes.

The school was worth the price of admission, although admittedly I won it playing the Barrett Jackson Fantasy Bid game in 2022. However, this time around, I'm paying real money for it. :)

...and for something completely different from a different tax bracket. 2009 MX5 Miata. Mild suspension mods. Sways, shocks, springs. Etc. Lowered about 1 1/2". Did a day trip a few weeks ago as part of the Windy City Miata Club. Full day of driving the twisties of Southern Kettle and Northern Kettle Moraine in Wisconsin. Lots of fun with 15 Miata's all in a row.

I've always loved MX5s. Only owned one though. '95 M-edition. Did a few mods including a Flyin' Miata rocker arm and center chassis butterfly braces. Really tightened things up a bunch.

Ok that’s not factory paint is it? Nice

I got a couple of messages asking about the progress of the 70 Plymouth Cuda. So, I thought I share that we got the front suspension complete and ready for power coating, the fender liners welded, and engine mocked up and in place ready for the exhaust piping to the turbo's. The front fenders are at our local restoration shop; they are raising the opening up about an inch for wheel and tire clearance. Another update from requests. Making progress. My welding skills - need more practice.

I definitely don't have the balls to do that!

I just did a track day couple weeks ago at The FIRM in Starke FL with my Focus ST. Did 80 laps and my neck was sore the next day. It was my first time on that track and first time in a long time on any track so the Focus ST was the choice. Ball it up I'm out 15k. Ball up my Porsche and I'm gunna be real unhappy. I LOVE my Cayman so maybe next time. Porsche cars are absolutely amazing. Drive one and you'll understand.

Yep.

My son's car - Barry - has been decorated for the season.

We spent the weekend re-gasketing his windshield. A prior owner had replaced the gasket and used NO sealant whatsoever. Any time it rained the car would leak horribly. Hell, just using the windshield washers made it leak!

Not a hard job, but holy hell that liquid butyl windshield sealant is a gooey mess that gets freaking everywhere.

He's getting this steering wheel for Christmas, too, to replace a really ugly one that's in there now.
