Greetings from "almost" SW Florida.

I am in near desperate need of a couple of props for our 2012 Sea Ray Sundancer. Specifically they are Front Prop 8M8021590; Rear Prop 8M8021600

We run with twin Cummins 480 Diesel Engines with Zuess Pods

We are halfway done with our 1st "Great Loop Journey." Near Appalachicola, FL the engine began sounding strange and vibrating. When docked we hired a diver and discovered part of 1 propeller was missing. Trying to get ahead of weather approaching, we are on our 2nd day of running on 1 engine (at 8 mph) so not to tax it too much. We are not having any luck in finding a replacement prop. The earliest we have learned will be May 15 for us to receive them. This creates a real time crunch for us as our insurance company mandates the boat be above the 40th parallel prior to the end of May.

If anyone has an extra one of these laying around, we would gladly purchase from you!!!

We hope to have the boat back into the Gulf ICW tomorrow in the Tampa bay area, protected from wind and waves.

If ANYONE has an recommendations or advice, we welcome all input! Thank you in advance! Pam & Terry Partis

There are quite a few different Zeus props on Ebay right now. Perhaps you could find one that's close to your location so you don't have to pay or wait for shipping.

I'll just throw this out - you have a hand full of Marinemax locations that you are relatively close to. Not that anyone would have what you are looking for - but they might be able to point you to someone who may.

Best of luck

-Mike

Most props can be repaired fairly quickly. How bad was it?

Thanks Mike! We have talked to Marine Max & they have them on order. However the earliest we can get it is May 15th. Due to insurance purposes the boat needs to be above the 40th parallel prior to the end of May. That would be difficult to make. I talked with another large group based in Florida, and they shared they have been unable to get these props since last July. Everything new is being sent to factories building new boats. I feel we need to keep tracking out & surely there is a used one SOMEWHERE???

I'd also talk to your insurance carrier about the situation and discuss the "extenuating circumstances", and possibly get that deadline pushed back a little. It's worse to rush a deadline in the transportation world and risk an "event" that could be costly in lives or hardware.

EXCELLENT idea! Thank you so much for sharing!

Thank you all for your great input. We were able to power the boat on down to Cape Coral. Tomorrow it will be pulled out just so we can truly assess the entire propeller/pods issue and truly identify what and where the problem lies. We appreciate the input!

Did you feel it hit something?
Two issues; first time nothing was hit. Turned out blade was sheared off prop.
Second time though, only a mile from destination I got caught on rock shoal, so I’m pretty certain all 4 props are now damaged.

Change your story…..

Fila an insurance claim. That all were damaged at the same time.
