streaming movies on smart tv

You can, but it takes affect on the next billing cycle. Can’t just make a clean switch. If you turn one on the 15th it goes live right away. If you turn the other off on the 15th, if shuts down on the 1st.
Only by the month of your billing cycle. So it is of no real benefit to shut down/turn on. Unless your doing so for more then one month, like over the winter. If I could do that with the cell contract I'd be very happy. But at least the cell is only $50/mth and the SL can be put on hold for the winter.
Thanks guy's.

Problem is that cell service here is sketchy. Not much point in spending $50/month for something that will barely work. I think SL is the way to go.
Cell service is not good in Crisfield? Which service do you have?

The Peplink 40G 4x4 mimo antenna I am using works real well on weak signals. It even works up in Fairlee creek where I can only text at times.

I skeptically tried a lightning to HDMI adapter and it works surprisingly well. I can stream on the edge with 2 bars. 3 bars+ and it looks like sat TV.

And the bot has spoken. I feel so enriched. Isn't it ironic that one of those "tech solutions" is annoying spam with auto-generated responses?

I added the 40G antenna. Was wondering if you use all 4 wires for the 5G cell data or i understand you can use the 40g to double to pickup the Marina WiFi signal.

Didn’t know how you differentiate the use of the 40g and the 4 wires between data and marina WiFi.

Yes I use the Maritime 40G for just the cell inputs and I also have a Poynting 496 for just the wifi reception. I tried using the 2nd wifi connection on the 5G for the boat's wifi but there is a bug in the 5G that doesn't allow for private VPN connections to route separately form the iNet and is combined for wan reception. For that reason I use a separate router for the boats wifi.

I use all four leads to maintain the 4x4 mimo support of the antenna, it really helps in places like Farelee creek. Although all four leads are not needed for that, the frequency coverage does need it. But yes with adapter leads you can split the antenna's output for the WiFi as well. The 40g does have overlapping frequencies that cover the wifi signals. So yes it could be used. But from my understanding from the PL forum it's not the best way of dealing with wifi and why I have the Poynting 496.

So to answer your question, any of the four leads can be used but will require an adapter to go from SMA to RP-SMA for the wifi. The difference id the center pin missing or not. Connecting the wrong antenna type to an output such as wifi, can damage the output circuitry of the wifi transceiver if they are not mated.

We get 2ish bars. Right on the edge of being able to stream reliably.

Are you using the extension cables for the 40G? I added the 15’ extension cables from Peplink.

Interestingly I either have a bad antenna which seems rare or the added 15’ is causing too much loss.

I tested my Marina WiFi and LTE with the 40G connected and with the paddle antennas connected to the router.

In both cases I have better performance (up and down speed) with the paddle antennas.

That is strange that you are seeing less throughput over the paddle antenna's. Yes I also have the 15' Peplink extension cables. I doubt I could accurately measure any throughput differences because of where it is located. My Peplink is located behind the entertainment center on the fire wall. If your PL is located on your bridge and has an unobstructed signal, I could see the paddle antenna's getting a good signal, but would expect the 40g to be almost or even better. The 40g is a 4x4 mimo and the paddles are not. So your SNR is going to be much better with the 40g even with the extension cables. But if your saying your PL is in your salon and the paddles are better then the 40g, I can't see that being the case without there being an issue somewhere.

Are your extension cable at least 1' away from all AC lines? They will kill a signal quickly. I mentioned SNR because of signal rejection by the PL, is this issue only with the radar on?

None of the electronics have been running while performing these tests.

I may have found something.

I played around with the (2) LTE antenna wire connections going into the Router and that LTE signal improved greatly. Have not been able to get the same results with the Marina Wifi (other two antenna cables). These little cable connectors are a bit fiddly so makes me wonder if the connection point (between 6.5' G40 cables and the 15' extension cables doesn't have an issue. Of course that one is buried behind fiberglass and will take some work to pull it back and check it.

Sorry what’s all the “bots” about?
