That sounds like a plan. Do you think it could be battery problem? I had issues with port batteries and charger late last year. Was going to do starboard batteries over winter just to have four fresh ones. But got too lazy to carry the batteries up down and out. Easier at the dock. One of two things are the cause of the symptom. Either the head unit's supply voltage is dropping low enough that the voltage on the turn-on is low enough to signal the amp to turn off, thus returning when the load of the starter drops. Or, the voltage on the amp's power cables is dropping too low due to the engine load and the amp cycles off and back on.
Is the STBD engine's battery, also serving as the boat house bank? Port is the main cranking for port and backup cranking for STBD? If so, as a test, fire the port engine, then use the PORT battery to fire the STBD through the switches or COMBINE solenoid. Leaving the STBD bank isolated from the STBD engine's starter draw.
Ok. Did that. When starting normal the entire head unit shuts down and then restarts. When I use the emergency crossover, it does not and no “pop.” Any solutions to this?
