Over 4000 miles on this burgee. I retired it yesterday due to people pointing and laughing.

Disgraceful.

Make sure you dispose of it properly with a ceremonial cremation.

A well worn burgee I have to say! Did you always leave it out in the elements or only while under way? A nice trick is to take a piece of 1 1/4" PVC with an end cap to drop over the top. Protects it while sitting at the dock and keeps the noise down while trying to sleep on a windy night!

Ken, a much simpler method I use is the velcro tie up around the flag. Serves the same purpose you described but with "low profile". I even use yellow with black to match the burgee colors.

Thanks! What a great idea! Have just had to get a new yacht club burgee will cover it up with your pipe idea :thumbsup:.

In the beginning I wrapped it. But I like looking up out of the hatch window to see what the wind is like in the morning. The flag has got to be 6 years old? It was from the first batch.

Umh, mine is brand new, kept stalling because of the freight cost, not the burgee cost, anyway it is finally sitting in the boat.....now the question, will I be the ristorante in Aussie ???

After seeing yours, I ordered a sunbrella covering for mine this morning!! Actually, the wind blowing it at night is a bit annoying and I keep forgetting to get one. This thread just reminded me. Thanks!

Mine from the original batch is pretty worn. I think I bought it in 2006. Because I had it on my 260 for a short period and then installed on the 320. Which I bought in 2007. I need a new one. Not sure if they are available.

That's not 4000 nautical miles is it? If so, you're selling yourself short!
