Probably my favorite time of year for boating is the fall - here in North Carolina, the crowds on Lake Norman dwindle and the weather cools just below the scorching August heat. Nothing more fun that buzzing around a dead calm lake and anchoring out in the warm sun without sweating listening to a race or ballgame in the background. You just can't beat it. I love the fall, but hate that winter is next!
It was for sure a strange summer, didn't see any of my lake friends except a passing wave and a couple of anchor ups at a distance. I will say the lake was my salvation, it was the one place that things seem somewhat normal with the craziness of the world around us. It is feeling like a long winter coming on!
I guess the exciting thing is, I think I will be putting the old girl up for sale in the spring -- I have had it for 15yrs, but it's time for an upgrade -- not a big cruiser, just a bigger bowrider that is a little more suited to Lake Norman. I almost traded it last fall, but just could not let it go to a dealer and then who knows where -- really hope I find someone who will enjoy it the way I have. Plus I am pretty darn picky when it comes to the boat, it might take awhile to find the next one. The only way I am going to do it is to sell and not have a boat!
So feeling good about the weather, the prospect of a new boat next year and...this happens!
