Tim Scott for GOP nomination?

He asked. I answered.

If you get attacked with a screwdriver and can’t shoot the guy with your gun, you are SOL with me being 25 feet away. I would be as likely to shoot you as the perp. And that’s true for more people than not, I think.
At 25' I could hit the perp in the center of his head.

Never carried a gun in my life and feel absolutely fine in downtown Mpls, Chicago or NYC. What’s the difference between you and I? Seriously curious.
When is the last time you where in Chicago? My guess is not recently, within the last few years, or you're completely oblivious to what's going on.

Admiral went to a concert at the Chicago Theater. It was a Thursday night, thank god. Because the next day, right around the corner from the 2nd show, there was a mob of "teens" creating havoc. Jumping on cars, beating passers by up, and a few people go shot. Had we gone the the 2nd show, that would have been us caught up in that mess.

One block away from my kid's apartment, outside Wrigley freaking field, people were being kidnaped off the street, driven around and robbed, and then left blocks away. And this was happening at like 10 pm, not 2 AM in the morning. Don't think they ever caught the perps.

These are two incidents within the last few months that happened in the "safe" neighborhoods. No way you can feel "fine" down there these days.

Right. And that’s not me. So, am I more or less helpful just by carrying a weapon I’m not qualified to carry? I’d argue I’d be more dangerous and more likely to do harm than prevent it.

I should not pretend to be some tough guy with a guy. I’m simply not.

I’ve never felt the need to be.
That's what you have wrong. "Tough guys" don't carry guns. Contentious carriers de-escalate to avoid bad situations. They don't want to use it.

Well, you could run over and put the gun to the side of his head and pull the trigger...for christ sake help me out would ya'. Just sayin' is all.;)

Carrying a gun has nothing to do with being a 'tough guy'. I'm pretty confident I can hold my own when it comes to hand to hand combat but what if that other guy decides to elevate it beyond hand to hand? I have not been in a physical altercation in over 10 years since I was in law enforcement. Whether I have a gun or not I try to avoid questionable situations at all costs but there may be a time that I cannot avoid it and if that time ever comes I want to be prepared to give myself the best chance of making it home that night. Hopefully I never have to experience that event.
I have no problem with those that choose not to carry. That is your choice and I hold no ill feelings towards anyone that chooses not to carry. As you said, some may do more harm than good. As for me, I carry almost everywhere I go. Went to the marina tonight to prep our dock for launch tomorrow night and took my M&P Shield 9mm with me. Left it in the car at the marina but we go through a couple of towns on the way there and I feel more comfortable having it. Wal Mart, movie theater, mall, it goes with me.

Same could be said for the direction of Minneapolis. My wife works for a small two person company. One is the owner of the and the other is a coworker. The owner owns multiple properties in Minneapolis for rent.

A few months ago the coworkers car was almost stolen right in front of the office. Some “kids” decided they were going to steal her Kia, however it must not have been the incorrect model as they couldn’t get it started (Kia and Hyundai’s are the hot ticket in Minneapolis and St Paul for thefts). After smashing the window, jacking with the ignition, I guess they were spooked, got in their already stolen vehicle and smashed into her car causing major damage. Damaged enough where it wasn’t drivable. Neither was the other stolen vehicle, so they just left them both there. She was was without a vehicle for a month. They have video from some ring devices, but they never caught them.

Just last week, the owner of the company, who is 85 and has cancer, came in to town to work. (He resides in FL) He is in the process of selling buildings. Anyway, he was at a stoplight , some kids pulled next to him and asked him to roll down his window, that something was wrong with car….so he does. One kid whips a full water bottle and hits him square in the face. Another kid try’s and misses, but instead puts a nice dent in his door.

This location is in the famous Uptown area of Minneapolis. I spent a lot of time downtown and in the uptown area in the 90’s. That’s where I met my wife. Place has gone to shit. Many of the places I used to hang out are gone. Most have just recently pulled out of the area. I’m done trying to pretend everything is great in that area. We’re thankful that my wife can work remotely and we’re gone.

These folks obviously hate brown people.

…and management does nothing because they can’t “do” anything, thanks to the Minneapolis City Clowncil and Mayors office.

My youngest granddaughter just committed to UCLA...going to shit hole CA makes me nervous, but I guess we can't keep her in the woods for ever.

I go out of my way to de-escalate situations when I am carrying. I am much less likely to confront someone or respond to a non-lethal confrontation when carrying. Pulling my weapon is an absolute last resort.
wait, you're not a tough guy? :)

Prior to COVID I used to travel to Minneapolis at least twice a month and stay downtown a week at a time. My company's headquarters are at South 6th street and 2nd Ave. I stayed at a Marriott a block away. I would walk all over the city all the time and felt completely safe. I would walk to the downtown Target often. My understanding is that is not a viable option any longer post BLM/bowel movement riots. That's unfortunate. It was a beautiful city.

I am down here every single day. I walk to said Target probably twice a week. It's not a problem. It's a narrative.

Well if that's true, it's a good thing. Some of my colleagues who live there would beg to differ. I hope they are wrong. I loved that area.
My shop used to be in "the hood." We would walk two blocks to the local tavern for lunch. Just because we cheated death between 12 and 1, doesn't mean it was a good idea. :)

Crazy day. Walked almost the whole length of Nicollet Mall over lunch today. Partook of one of the many food trucks operating without incident all along the mall. And survived.

Think Fox News wants to interview me?
