I have a 2006 or 215 weekend or as everybody knows since my accident I'm thinking of going to an electric winch for my boat but does anybody know what would work as far as how many pound I need if the boat's 5000 dry do I need a $5,000 lb winch I don't know how that works thank you

A 5000 lb winch seems overkill. You are pulling the boat on a trailer not lifting it off the ground. Also look into bunk slicks or even lubricating the carpet on the bunks. I can’t say exactly what to use for your setup but I can say I have hand winched a 5000 lb boat and my arms can't lift 5000 pounds even with leverage.

I have no idea I've been doing some reading. So I'm thinking maybe a 2,500 lb

I have a Fulton two speed right now sometimes I have to go into granny low gear to get it that last foot. Class with my rotator cuff not healed yet and broken ribs I just want something easy and affordable if that is possible I'm open to any suggestion I do not know anything about this

do you have bunks or rollers? If bunks look into slicks or lube. When I loaded my boat off of blocks I sprayed my bunks with Pam spray. Worked great.

I have bunks . I think 2500 pounds would work

I stopped cranking in 1984. Back then I was lazy, now I have arthritis.

IMHO, Powerwinch brand is the only way to go. Some of the cheaper varieties have power out, which is a PITA.

Buy a model 912. It will serve you well. Currently, two of my boats have them.

My phone only weighs 5,000 dry I don't need a winch that'll pull 10,000 lb so and yeah it was a little expensive. I figure I need something with about $2,500 lb of pool because I can back my trailer in pretty good at this ramp I only have to go a few feet under the trailer to hook up boat

Check how each manufacturer rates the “size”
Marine trailer winches are often rated for the wieght of the boat, not line pull.
Standard winches like truck and ATV are the line pull in pounds.

I will do some research I will give e trailer a call they seem like they have their stuff together just curious if anybody knew I appreciate the help

I got a power winch rated at 5000 lbs and pull my 290 DA on the trailer, they come with a extra pulley and you hook that to boat and run cable thru that back to trailer, doubles your pulling capacity.

Dutton Laison has some smaller winches too. My dad put an electric winch on a trailer for his big Robalo a few years ago but I don’t know what brand it was. I am 90% sure his boat is around 12k lbs full fuel. I used it with him when I was out visiting and I’ll say, it’s fantastic to use. He shouldn’t be getting on a wet ramp and slipping, his is remote controlled and will freewheel as well. He ran large gauge cables from the batteries in his truck to the back bumper (like a tow truck jumper cable port) that you plug the winch into.

I ran heavy cable straight from batteries to back of truck with a heavy duty quick disconnect and put two 30 amp breakers wired in parallel as thats the largest breakers I could get and pulls my 290 DA with no problem.

I hope when you are done with what ever you decide, it doesn’t look like this.

I just want a simple winch I'll worry about the battery power later might just put a battery in the back of my pickup. I just want to know how many pound winch I should get before a 2:15 weekender

It was a joke jack, that is the brilliant design arminius came up with

So the boat's 5,000 lb dry I think a 2500 lb winch would be fine considering my ramp angle and wet slides and all that do you guys agree or should I just call like a trailer
