Trim sensor just quit!

I replaced the trim sensor without removing the outdrive. The process is outlined in the attached PDF.

It wasn't that bad. Took about 2 hours but that included time learning exactly what I had to do. I think I could do it in about an hour if I had to do it over again.

Good luck! Let me know if there are any questions!

That was a great write up

Update! The trim guage generally work but when I'm towing and turning a bit at high throttle settings, I get the 5 beeps and the lose the trim indications. When I slow down for a time, the trim indications come back. That's confusing to me. I thought maybe I just need to adjust the sensor some since there is an ability to do so but tweaking that didn't make much of a difference in this behavior. For most of the time, the trim guage works great with the new sensor. There was a mention in the install instructions with a DTS engine to use a G3 computer to reset the trim but that doesn't make sense. I my just bite the bullet and buy the Rinda program so I can do some of this stuff myself. Does anyone know the right hydraulic measurements for a Bravo 3 outdrive to set the trailer limits correctly? I don't really know where the "trailer" trim setting should start. I don't think the default setting is correct.

Thanks for any help!

From the Bravo manual.

Thanks, Bill!

My throttle control doesn't have a trailer button. When I bought the new trim sensor kit it came with a blank off plate to replace the analogue trim sensor on the starboard side. Mercury Marine tech support said that the DTS engines don't use it anyway. I had read somewhere that the halfway point on the trim guage is the end of the normal range and above that is where the "trailer" range is but I can't seem to find where I read that again. Is the start of that procedure "how to calibrate" the trim? I will give it a go and see what happens. Don't think I can break anything.
