MerCruiser 5.0L MPI with Alpha stern drive
Hey there, I have a 2006 200 Select, with a MerCruiser 5.0L MPI with Alpha stern drive. I can't seem to find the 10 pin smart craft connector. I think this is it (see pics), but it looks like some possible instrument gauge wires are coming from it so I can't remove the weather cap? Any suggestions? Or do I need to keep looking...

by the way, I failed to mention the reason I am trying to find the 10 pin is to use VesselView.

That certainly looks like a Smartcraft connector. I imagine that existing wiring is driving your gauges. Does your VesselView have a harness with connections for the gauges? If so, you might be able to re-route the existing wiring through the new harness. Looks like it would take more custom wiring to do it.

Thanks for responding... Here is what mine looks like. Not sure you can put the terminator cap and allow for the existing wiring on the current weather cap...

I think the weather cap is intended only for a termination resistor but perhaps others will chime in. It seems to me you may need to get a Smartcraft junction box, connect the engine out connector to it, then connect your VV Mobile to one of the ports and your gauge wiring to one of the others. Again, it would take some custom wiring. But, the easier course is probably to contact Mercury (they seem to be very helpful these days) and get their advice. They probably have seen this setup and have a variety of available harnesses and such that will probably fit the bill.

By the looks of it you need to install a Smartcraft J-Box. A 4 way would work fine. That connector in your pic is unusual in that the two wires which look to be pins K (Dk Blue) and J (white) are CAN P which must terminate into some controller / instrument. The blue wire with what looks to be a fuse if from pin F is +12 volts to something.https://www.mercruiserparts.com/878492b14-jbox-4w-bulk

As an edit look for the 14 pin round connector and follow that cable to the 10 pin connector locations. This is probably close to your configuration -

+1 for the junction box

I was expecting to find a 4-port box with an empty port (hopefully) but instead it was a 6-port box ..... FULL

So I had to track down an 8. Then I could plug in the VV and have one left over for the future
