Good evening all,

Just got vesselview mobile for my 2001 Sundancer 340. I connected at the engine because I have no smartcraft jboxes at the helm (I think that started on 2003).

Can I simply connect my other engine (8.1L Horizons) with a new cable or do I need junction boxes?

I've searched everywhere for that answer but can't find it.

Otherwise, the system works great on my port engine!

Note: with dual engines, you need to have the Port engine designated as such. They all ship from the factory as "Starboard" engines (unless a jbox was installed) and you need to use a scanner to change the port engine sex.

You can do it with a Rinda scanner, or have a dealer do it for you.

Copy all on engines are all shipped as Starboard and I'll need to change the "sex"of the motor (got a good laugh on that one )

However, I'm trying to find a wiring diagram that shows what goes from each engine to something then the vesselview dongle?

I assumed I could connect port engine and starboard engine into the VV without a junction box, simply another cable... But that seems too easy

The pdf I posted shows the necessary part numbers. For 2 engines, you will need at least a 4 port box. Consider a 6-port for future expansion.

You need to run each engine to a 4 port junction box. Then plug the VVM into the junction box. The 4th port if the junction box will need a terminator.

2 Harnesses - 84-879968T-x
the T means it is terminated at the engine end
x = (10,15,20,30) length in feet

1 jBox - 878492-4
or -6 for 6 port

1 terminator cap. - 859318T-1

The cable that goes to one of the engines will need the power jumper removed. (only one engine needs to supply power). See the note on page 4.

Thank you, Bob! I can be a bit slow when it comes to these things.
I appreciate the extra time to "splain"it to me.

Cheers!

When I did mine I was told that each engine has its own power supply for the data plug on the back of the engine. VVM for twin engine setups has to have one engine's power supply for the data plug disconnected for the system to work - at least that's what I was told.

If yours works fine without disconnecting one of the engine's data plug power supply leads please post about it. Mine works fine with one unplugged, however it won't work unless the port engine is keyed "on" (only an issue if I want to putt on one engine and choose the stb engine to do so).

Not sure why having both engine's data lines providing 12vt power would be an issue. It's not like it would double the voltage to 24vt or anything...
