Up here in Canada, most boaters who spend any time on the hook opt to put in an inverter system. TV's can be wired to work of 12volt but if you want you ice maker to stay cold and make ice while you are sleeping (without the generator running), you need to invest in an inverter system. Being in a bay with the gennie running, ruins the whole experience. We need to run the generator at least three hours a day to keep the batteries charged but when that thing shuts down, its really a tranquil experience.
