Gremlin #1. For about 2 months I "had" about 2-3 inches of water in my bilge. I could never figure out where it was coming from. So...I get my small Shop Vac out and suck it all up. The next week it's there again. Note- I am under a covered slip, so this is not rain water. So, I do this a few more times and then notice a trickle coming in from around one of my through-hulls. I stick the vac nozzle right on it, suck it dry and see the trickle appear again.

Interestingly, it never really gets too much deeper than 2-3 inches in the bilge and it's not enough to kick on the low water pump (at least not that I can tell). The through hull is the one just forward of the engines near the high water bilge pump.

Now the strange part...in the last three weeks it has been dry as a bone (after I sucked it out the last time). I did a 40 mile round trip last weekend, and still dry.

How did it heal itself? Ideas?

Gremlin #2: During the month of July we were not out on boat at all. Work travel and vacations kept us from the boat. About 2 weeks ago I notice ATF fluid in the back of the bilge right under the trim tab hydraulic pump. I see a slight drip line along the back wall of the bilge as well. I get a paper towel and wipe all around the pump trying to figure out where it's coming from. Nothing. The high pressure lines were all tight as well. I wipe it up. Come back a couple of days later and same thing. More fluid (not much have you, just enough to stain the floor of the bilge). Again, wipe around and come back with nothing. So, I get a wrench out and snug on the line fittings just for fun. They were tight.

Fast forward to last weekend and the 40 mile round trip. We get back and I check it again, now the leak is gone! Remember, the boat was sitting for about a month when this leak first appeared.

Idea?
