Sea Gull
Well-Known Member
Some of you may recall Wetpaint, a member and regular contributor to CSR who gave up his Sea Ray and almost all ties to land based life in favor of a sailing catermaran and a life at sea. Well, we connected with him this morning in Great Harbor Cay in the Berry Islands, Bahamas. It turns out we have a mutual friend in Palm Beach, and my wife became Facebook friends with him, leading to coincidentally meeting up in the same piece of ocean at the same time. What a small world!
Although today was the first time we met, I can report that he looks healthy, happy and relaxed in his new life. He sails where the wind blows him, staying as long as he likes in some of the most amazingly beautiful cruising grounds on earth. I think he told me that he had burned 45 gallons of fuel in the last several months (and covered lots of ground too). I'm a bit jealous of that as we burn 90 gallons an hour blasting around the islands.
We we left Great Harbor this morning and are now tucked safely in a slip at Spanish Wells. In another 8 or 9 days we will make our way back to the States for some scheduled yard time before Sea Gull makes the migration back to CT for the summer.
Even here in paradise, it's nice to feel connected to the group that is Club Sea Ray and to have ready made friends wherever we travel. Great to call Wetpaint a new friend. Fair winds to him and to all.
