Hi everybody. I am considering selling my 1979 SRV195 & was wondering if anybody knew a good web resource for finding out the value of boats. I know NADA has this feature & have looked at it, but I would rather use a true boat service to find out the value of it. Love the boat, but just don't use it. Thanks, Chris.

Chris, on a boat like yours (age) it's really going to come down to "perceived value" and the first impression a potential buyer has. You can look at online boat-sales sites, but chances are you won't find too many boats similar to yours to compare pricing. Even that isn't always the greatest tool as a seller can "ask" anything he/she wants.

Chances are, NADA will be low compared to what you can actually get for it. In good condition, a fair price would be somewhere around $3K. Maybe a little less/little more. Approaching $5K would be too much. Local market and availability of other boats in that price range will likely play one of the biggest factors.

:thumbsup: So true

Or as I have been seeing lately from locals selling their boats, you can pull a price out of imaginary land (or some body orafice) and wish on a star that it sells! :lol::grin:

No I am kidding, we have been shopping a few steps up and I am suprised most folks dont clean their boats up, have paperwork for a service history, or anything. As a buyer looking at an older boat, that is what sells it?! IMO

Thanks for the info guys. I hope to get a fair price for this old gal, she's in super good shape. New seats, everything works, clean. Yeah, I'm one of those guys. I agree w/ you Scottzzzy, I often look through eBay or other boat classifieds (just for fun) & wonder what some people are thinking listing their boats in "needs some work" condition when it should really say "basket case".

Exactly!:lol::smt043:lol::smt043

You know other than Craigslist and maybe some on Ebay, there is not a really good place for me to find Private Sale boats around me which stinks! It would seem with as inexpensive as popping up an internet site is someone could at least make a By Owner site for boats! The tax guy gets waaaaay too much of my money as is.:thumbsup:

Scottzzzy, don't know if this will interest you or not but the guy I work with(he doesn't own a Searay, but I don't hold it against him) likes to look at a web site called "boatcrazy.com". I haven't been on it, but looking over his shoulder at it, it looks to have a lot of boats for sale on it from different states. This is what we do in Iowa w/ 50+ inches of total snow accumilation for this winter. Come on Summer.

A couple sites you can use are listed below. Search each one for the model boat (give it about a 5-year range) you're going to sell. The one that comes back with the most hits is the one you want to use. Both dealers and private individuals can use those sites.

boats.com
usedboats.com
boattrader.com
