Thanks but he left the frame so all I need to do is hook up the water line to it which he also left in place

The boat is a 2000.Dave,
Looks great! What year is your boat?
By underneath the port bed do you mean in the storage compartment when you lift up the bed? If so I think you have two different leaks going on. I don't see how engine room water can travel uphill past a bulkhead into that compartment. Have you checked the portal window above the bed.I have narrowed down a small rain water leak to my port engine room air intake. The leak migrates and winds up underneath the port bed in the guest stateroom. After a good rainstorm we're talking about a cup of water. Annoying.
I taped off the port air intake during our last hard rain and only got a few drops of water. Took the plastic off yesterday, and it rained today and the leak is back, so that fairly well narrows it down.
I blew out the drain line that goes to the bilge, didn't find anything.
The air vent is a piss poor design, and in typical Sea Ray fashion it's inaccessible without doing some major fiberglass work on the exterior.
Looks great. On my 2001 the engine room light switch is the furthest one in. Salon overhead lights are the first one. You can probably pretty easily swap switch locations. I swapped the vent and light switches in both heads. We kept turning on the vent switch instead of the light switch.I think the engine room light switch is in the worst location that it could be as the first switch as you walk in the door. It gets flipped on endlessly by guests with no tell tale that the lights may be on down below. At least with LED's it's not that big of a deal. Very bright working area now with no shadows.
Awesome update. I need to add those to my ER as well. Thanks for including the product pics and final results. Looks great.Small upgrade today that's been on my list of things that I waited for a cold winter day to accomplish. I ditched all of my engine room bulbs for peel and stick 18" LED strips. I used 6 total with one illuminating the front of each engine, 1 each above the tranny's for the rear, and 1 each on either side of the lazarette hatch over the battery area, and fresh water pumps. All existing locations to easily tie into the existing wiring. Really happy with the results. Got it. Now I know where you mean. May or may not be of help, but I had water work it's way over there from a leaky windshield. It ran along the base of the windshield to behind the port head cabinet. I took off the rear panel inside the cabinet (the one to access the vent blower) and found the water would fill up a fiberglass trough in there. That window has been rebedded, and is not leaking.
The leak is coming from aft and migrating. I opened the compartment at the foot of the port bed (access for air condition air hose) and found the water there, which is leaking forward. The engine room vent is much higher than the bunk compartment which explains the migration of the leak.
Like I posted earlier, when I seal off the engine room vent with plastic and tape, the leak stops. So obviously it's entering there, and there must be a seam leaking. I have to assume that because there is really no way to gain access. I did run an endoscope camera in there to look around, but didn't see anything.

Are your engines gas or diesel mine are gasThe boat is a 2000.
Regarding the digital tachs, they were essentially drop in replacements, and able to use the exisitng cabling! The biggest problem is centering them in the original cut outs, as they are slightly smaller and don't friction fit. But no biggie, just center them as best you can and tighten.

Windshield has been sealed, and I’ve been in that same compartment, dry as a bone.
My leak is definitely the engine room air intake. Like I originally wrote, if I seal off the intake, the leak stops. And I’ve traced the leak coming from aft, not forward.
I suspect there is a crack in the intake trough, but there is no access(unless I start really disassembling some major work).
My engines are Diesel CAT-3126s. But Aetna appears to sell for gas engines too:Are your engines gas or diesel mine are gas
Happy Monday! I did a quick search but didn't see this topic discussed, so I wanted to ask.
I'm looking at a few 400DB's and it appears that the cockpit transom seat might have been an option on these boats. Is that correct? Most of the boats I've seen have the transom bench seat in place, with a padded set and a backrest. But some have nothing there. So my question is: Has anyone added this bench seat after owning the boat? What would something like this cost? Are these available from Sea Ray or are there aftermarket options available?
Thanks,
Steve
There is not a inventory of them where you can buy one. You'll either have to build one custom or hunt for one being sold or salvaged.OK, 4 days is being patient, I think. Wouldn't you agree? I mean, it's not like any of us are out boating right now...
Has anyone added (or had to replace) a cockpit bench seat on the 400DB? What would something like this cost? Are these available from Sea Ray or are there aftermarket options available?
Thanks in advance!
