Rock Island Grill used to be Charlies, right? We went a couple times last year and it was not very good. Has it gotten better?

Hello All, New to the site and new to Sea Ray. We have been boating on TRL for 20 years. Just bought this at Lake O Tuesday before the 4th. We will be bringing it to TRL when I can find a slip, hopefully by next season. I miss calm waters, spent 5 days at Lake O over the 4th, very nice people at the dock, but rough water.
TRL is the next Lake O, imo... when I first went there 25 years ago, there wasn’t many large boats, and reasonable traffic on the weekend, and basically no traffic during the weekWe were down for a long weekend last week. The lake was rough. A ton of boats for a non-holiday weekend. The thing I have been seeing more this year, by 10 fold over previous years, are 40'+ cruisers running on plane throwing off big a$$ wakes.
Yeah, when I was growing up on the lake you didn’t have to search far for a quiet cove to ski in. I find myself slowing down more for surf boat wake than I do for big cruiser wake. The big, big boats on the lake usually don’t run that fast, but I have seen the occasional 390 all ahead flank and throwing a big wake.TRL is the next Lake O, imo... when I first went there 25 years ago, there wasn’t many large boats, and reasonable traffic on the weekend, and basically no traffic during the week
The pandemic has had a huge impact on boat traffic this year IMO. I drive by the boat dealers around the area and their lots are empty! They can’t keep boats on their lots, new or used. It would be a great year to be selling boats! Many that I talk to aren’t taking their usual vacations and are instead putting that money into boating.
That's for sure. My admiral used to get on me about getting frustrated (and sometimes yelling) at people doing things wrong (or stupid), and this year she's joined in! I'd like to say I've rubbed off on her, but it's probably due to how bad people are this year. When you've navigated a guided-missile destroyer multiple times through the Strait of Malacca (one of the busiest and tightest shipping lanes in the world) people doing stupid things gets really aggravating. Maybe I'm just old and salty!"Cheap" gas doesn't help either. Let's see how many of these new boaters are running around all day on $4.00 gas. Or their first major breakdown. I have seen more random acts of stupidity and lack of general boating knowledge this year than the last 3 combined.

Jeff,Tim....I can remember paying 4.95 for fuel. I think this year has been the cheapest fuel(at least so far this year) since 2006, when we bought our 1st boat.
