420 DA Thread

Here are a few quick examples:
Coolant/antifreeze - 36F
Pink stuff - 20F
Gasoline -40F
Diesel starts to gel at 32F

I love this site. Learn something every day. Thx !

your brand name may vary..... but I have never heard of replacing antifreeze with pink stuff.... sounds like a lot of work and expense for the same protection

100% agree. Pink stuff in the freshwater lines, the sewer lines and maybe the raw water intake lines and heat exchanger, but the engine is better served as is.

Me neither.....Never heard of replacing antifreeze with pink

The only pink stuff I use goes into my wife's cocktail...

Dash Panels: I upgraded electronics and moved some stuff around on the helm, so I have the original burlwood panels. The main and the small one with the Fire Suppression System. They are in excellent shape for being 16+ years old. There are some minor scuffs on the small

panel on the edge. The mains has cut outs for Tachs (2), 4 in 1 Gauges (2), GPS Nav, Sync Gauge and Tri-Data.

If interested, drop me a PM.

..... we needs pics of the new

I like the idea of putting both on the small panel.... I need to get busy and get that done.... who did you use.... I like the recess for the gages

Not to derail the thread, but I have a potential leak question. Had this boat (2006 44 Sundancer) for about two months now. The forward bilges in the mid stateroom and where the sump are have been bone dry. We took our first long trip last weekend. Yesterday I went to get something out of those bilges and there’s about an inch of salt water in both. None in the forward salon nor the v-berth hatches.

Plan on digging into it today. Figured I’d see if anyone on here has any theories that might save some time...

Thanks!

This is a mystery for sure... I had water in there 3 years ago once and never again...
Some say it’s from the the fresh water fill hose...some say it’s from a overflowing ac pan from the main salon... if you figure it out let us know

Thanks for that. Just did the taste test again. The one under the mid stateroom is definitely salt. The one aft of the sump taste like fresh.

I changed the smartcraft transducer insert in the back of the engine room before the trip. That process gets a bit of salt water into the bilge of course. Any chance that could’ve worked it’s way forward while we were out at sea? Will shop vac it out and see if it returns.

Obviously fresh water near the sump could be from a number of sources. I’ll clean and put some powder in there to see if I can trace it...

By the way, Blueone, I did a remake of my dash panels as well. I used Tecnografix. Quality of them is excellent! Here’s a pic...

Tecnografics....site sponsor. They already had a "template" and everything. VERY EASY!

Chief Ed...go back to my post 2326 and look at my pictures. I still am unable to figure mine out. But tell me if you have the same issue. I know my dribble comes out the hole on port side stringer.

Yes, that photo in post 2326 is exactly where the fresh water is in my boat. Salt water is in the compartment aft of there (under the hatch in the mid stateroom)

Had some friends stop by yesterday, so didn’t get into exploring it yet. Will advise when/if I figure it out...

Thanks!
