Red Oak strips installed on the vertical surface between main and aft cabin with a custom cut red oak trim on the floor. They complement the new Red Oak companionway steps I made last month.
Project total cost was under $550 and if it wasn't for the flooring order delay, I could have knocked it out in about a month (mainly weekends).
Last project before boating season is a custom storage cabinet above the new Isotherm Stainless Fridge/Freezer.View attachment 99876 View attachment 99877
I used Traffic Master Allure (grip strip) from Home Depot. They have a one inch wide acrylic tape adhesive edge that is incredibly strong. I accidentally touched two planks together and when I tried to pull them apart they broke!Love the flooring and you've done a great job documenting your project. I'm laying templates out on my floor now to get a final idea what I want to do. I take it the laminate you used locked in place with no tapping required to get them to lock in place; otherwise, how did you get the tight fit to the edges?
Aluminum trim is off the shelf Home Depot....waaay cheaper than buying 8' lengths and paying for shipping. Depending on the thickness of plywood you are using buy either 1/2" x 1/2" angle or 3/4" x 1/2" angle (that is what I used as floor is 1/2" and hatches are 3/4")Great work! I’m using the same type of flooring, but a different color. You’re a better craftsman than me!
Where did you get the aluminum hatch trim? It looks great.
Looks really good... I like the risers... nice jobFinally done. It was a SOB, but I am very pleased with the results - NO MORE CARPET!
Floor is NautikFlor Cherry and Black bought at Defender, panels on vertical sections of stairs and trim pieces were bought from PlasTEAK.

On the other hand, What model Isotherm fridge is that? Looks sharp!I know its not a "flooring project" but as part of the cabin steps/floor upgrade, I made a new custom storage cabinet over the Isotherm Fridge/Freezer. I designed it mainly for bags of chips, bread, etc as we are always looking for somewhere "safe" to store these items and yet keep them readily available.
Its hard to tell because I painted it flat black inside but it goes back about 20" so its pretty deep.

Hi can you tell me what version of the tread master anti slip strips you used? Did you trim them down? Finally was able to install my Treadmaster anti-slip strips on the new steps. I used 3m Acrylic 2-sided tape and it went on easy. Used a small floor roller to make sure there were no air bubbles.
Flooring should be shipping soon and I am anxious to get started on floor.View attachment 97734
