The 2022 springtime Shine Thread

Well, if you want to sell it, I will buy it. I enjoy making the old girl shine.
If someone wanted to pick it up, it would be gone. Its simply too much hassle to ship it. I'm just getting rid of a bunch of unused stuff. I don't need the money.

Hauling my 410 in April
rubrail to waterline..
polish with Presta Max Polish,
apply 2nd coat of S & G Marine ceramic coating ( held up great the last two years single coat)
removing Propglide 2 years old re applying new Prop Glide on all underwater metal
2 coats of Seahawk colorkote black,
new zincs if needed
inspect wheels etc

trim Tabs above the tunnels Mod
This was taken a few weeks back.... shine is good on the Hull, Above the rubrail is Presta hydroprotek
I put that on Windows , seats etc
The STBD side takes a beating with the western sun and mangroves on the whole boat...

Wow…. 50’ of collimate would be a non starter for me…. Hats off…. Looks good
I’ll just say thank god it’s done. Ugh
It doesn’t help that I am so anal about it.
It was hot tub and whiskey when this was done.

@Blueone - How did the 303 graphene hold up last year? Worth the effort? You put yours on after waxing, correct?

Yes…. I should have followed up

the fluid is a black dye…. When I put it on the non skid it wouldn’t come off…. I stopped after evening things up. It left the non skid kind of gray all summer…. So a hard no on non skid.

the blue hull was easier on and off…. But I don’t think it was any better then the wax…. But to be fair I haven’t seen the port side that sees sun all summer up close…. But my guess it was a waste of time effort and money

Interesting. Thanks! Let us know once you look at the port side what your final conclusion is.

This is one side after I made the switch to Starkey this year. Elevate, followed by ignition, followed by one coat of the hybrid sealant. It will get one more coat of sealant before we hit the water

top side will get the same treatment but with the first step being the heavier cut compound. I’m happy I made the switch this year the stuff is pretty good

I used Starke products last year (Level R, Elevate and then the sealant Hyper Hold) and loved the outcome- I’ll be using Starke products again later this week as I kick off my annual buff and wax. I’ll probably not use Level R and will start with Elevate. I see you used ignition before hyper hold..what’s your thoughts on it? I was pretty happy how it turned out with just using elevate then finishing with the sealant. Did it make much more of a difference ?

I also toyed with just going from elevate to the polish but since it was my first year with this product I wanted to give their 3 (and 4 step in places) a try. I did hit it with a very bright LED at an angle and had a chance to see both elevate and ignition in the setting sun.

My take, elevate will be sufficient for most people and 90% of the time. What ignition does is remove the very fine swirl marks that you can only see at an angle in a morning or evening sun. Overall shine is about the same between the two

Well, there's your problem. Nobody wants an "oribtal" polisher!

When I saw this, my mind read "suckness"...

Finally, I blame @Stray Current's picture of his dog hanging upside-down over the gunwale for my mind acting the way it does.

Wow!! Each is a unique substance. You can’t have a single product that’s made of all three.

Graphene is not new. Wax doesn’t last. Ceramic, especially marine grade ceramic is far superior.

Excellent work Ryan! She's beautiful.
Your hard work is evident. A wise man told me one time "perfection is a tuff goal, but we sure can strive for it".

Good job Sir.

Thank you my friend. Perfection is always the goal, at the cost of my sanity:)

it’s all worth it when I’m sitting on the beach with the family, a beer in hand, looking at the water reflecting off the hull sides

If I was
@MattB92
I would add a forced rotation dual action polisher to your list of tools..
Something like :
https://www.autogeek.net/flex-orbital-polisher.html
Or I know rupes makes one as well.
These along with lake country forced rotation pads will get rid of swirl marks the roatary causes
If I was needing to replace my Porter Cable (which seems to be indestructible) I would replace it with a Flex.

@Shaps @Jus Cruisin

The dewalt with a polishing pad won't do the trick? leave swirl marks?

Didn't know I would need another tool just for polishing as well. Can you compound and polish with the flex?
