    First Tme Draining Engine

Well I got the raw water fitting loose from the fuel cooler. It also draines to the central drain housing so there was nothing in it but it's nice to be sure.

    First Tme Draining Engine

Well they put it in the storage unit before I could get in there to the fuel cooler. Is it mandatory to get this bolt loose? It appeaed to have the two hoses from the fuel cooler hooked to everything else that drains to the distribution thingy.

    First Tme Draining Engine

Ugg, I was wondering about that fuel cooler. Getting to it is next to impossible. I'll give it a go.

    First Tme Draining Engine

Picture this, '06 SeaRay Sundeck, 6.2 Bravo III. I found four blue plugs to drain the engine, one on thermostat housing, one on bottom water distribution housing and two on the belt driven water pump. Is there anything on the fuel cooler or any others I'm missing? That bottom of the engine...

    Single engine on 2003 280

If you guys remember the early 280's had 6.2s when Mercruiser was switching over from 7.4s to 8.1s and there was a period of time with inventory issues. A friend had the 6.2 and it was really not enough, this boat really needs big-block torque in a single engine application. I had an '04 with...

240 Sundeck Thread - Questions and Answers

Just bought a used '06 240SD and the previous owner kept the cooler that goes in the storage area under the helm. I presume it is supposed to be an Igloo Marine cooler but do any of you know which size? Or are there any better options for that space?

Head compartment size in 240 SD/250 SLX (or larger)

I have a 240SD and the head us usable but certainly not large. My boating buddy has an '06 25 SLX and there is absolutely no way I can fit in that head, just won't happen. There is a pretty fair size difference.

    Bravo III problem

Coupler is not too expensive, the labor is. If it is the coupler I would think eight hours at likely around $80 per hour plus the coupler and if memory serves me correctly they are around $200.

How'd Merc go from 210 to 250 hp on 5.7L?

Better cylinder heads and a roller lifter camshaft. Made a pretty good difference. Manufacturers are allowed to fudge their hp numbers by 10% either side of the real number. Means a 250hp engine can be listed as having hp ranging from 225 to 275. The 210 was likely a little under rated and the...

    Kohler 5E Cold Start Up

My last and current boats both did it with the Kohlers. I tried adjusting the choke on the previous boat with no luck. If it stuck on and ran rough I shut it down and got in the bilge and started it with the rocker switch. As soon as it starts I just barely touch the choke linkage and the choke...

Help a sportboater A/C w/ no generator questions

I am having a 3,000 watt inverter put in my boat next week with one 8D AGM battery and the installed cost is $3,000 - $3,500. It will work with about four 8D batterys as the compressor does not run all the time. If you cool it off at the dock and leave it set on 75 degrees and keep the door...

    300 Sundancer questions.

Yes it was in Dubuque. I meant to pull Runberg's chain for SOMETHING free. All he had to do was accept the numbers and do the paper work. I do think they would have paid more had I not informed them of where the exact numbers were. I don't have any problem with the dealer making some money I...

    300 Sundancer questions.

Stray Cat, I thought I had my SeaRay sold but it fell through at the last minute. I was going to do the two boat thing but chickened out. We bought an '06 Silverton 34 Convertible. We are on the boat every weekend and needed the extra room with two kids and a bag of fleas. I bought the SeaRay...

    300 Sundancer questions.

I traded off my '04 300 Sundancer in Dubuque, IA last summer. It had 6.2s and burned 24gph at 3,600rpm. I am unsure of the speed as I did not have a gps and the SmartCraft screen was likely not too acurate. The 6.2 engines were quite a bit more money than the 350 mags and I would not have chosen...

    Brrrr-getting cold this weekend

Stuff towels in the cowls that vent the engine compartment to keep the cold breeze from blowing in. You could use painters tape.

    First In

I am just down stream in the Quad Cities. We put our boat in last Saturday. Now this morning I headed to the boat in 23 degree air to re-winterize part of the water system. The transom shower and the anchor wash down were my fears. I disconnected the water line from the tank and pumped two...

    Bahamas may be postponed :-(

Gary, Will the drivers insurance help with some of the expenses? Just a thought. I lost my two labs in just less than four weeks this winter. The yellow was 4 and got Lymes Disease and just could not kick it. I had to have her put down. The black was 13 and had a stroke one evening. I had...

    2003 380 Sundancer questions

I don't know what brand of generator you have but I have seen many many kohlers do that and with a fresh set of spark plugs the problem goes completely away. Give it a try, it only costs $5 and they don't last very long.

    36 Sedan Bridge

Rondds, I thought about the Yanmar diesels but with the gen. change the price was around $60k. That was just too big of a pill to swallow. I know you get part of it back at resale but the fuel savings of 20% just does not mean that much to me. The couple we boat with have Cummins diesels and...

    What type of oil

If I find a good deal on synthetic and buy a few cases, will it keep for 5-7 years without any problems as long as the quart bottle is not opened? I found a stock of the old style Mobil 1 before they cheapened it.
