I thought I had the operating $$$ figured out before I bought, boy was I wrong

I think west marine has a wing named after me.

Exxon sends me a plaque every month for consumer of the month club.

Don't forget the mechanic's children you are putting through Harvard. :smt043 :smt043 :smt043

Have you thought about buying a slightly used boat? I just recently purchased a 260DA 2003 with only 100 hours and got it for 10k less than what your buying new. It's just a thought and I wasn't sure how much boating experience you have.

10k for 100 hrs???
it is no longer slightly used it's just used.
I don't think that was a deal.
sorry:(

Thats your opinion and I think I did, because I paid half of what the person I bought the boat new for. So a boat that only has 100 hours on it that is 4 years old is a good deal. Sorry that is my honest opinion. Also the point I was making was I bought a 260DA for 10K less than a brand new 240DA.

To me i would never by new. I'm sure if you looked hard you could get a 260 sundancer 1- 2 years old with 30 hrs or so for the same price as a brand new 240. Plus it will have all the little things which cost an awful lot when you head to westmarine the first time. This is why i decided on the 280. I was able to buy it with 30 hrs and with all the electronics, flares, life jackets, fenders, lines ect. for the same price as a brand new 260 at the time. Needless to say i'm very happy with my decision i would never buy brand new.

AH! Devil Ray: I think your original post (and intent!) was misread.

The way your original post read, it seemed like you bought a used 240DA for 10K less than a new 240DA. I think that is how Boatmailster read it!

Just bought a 2007 240DA

Gel-Coated Dash - Nickel
5.OL MPI BR3 (260 PMP)
Air Conditioning/Heating
Bimini Camper Pkg
Carpet, Snap-In (Cockpit)
Firs Suppression System
Pump-Out Head
Stove, Butane
Table, Cockpit w/Uedicated Storage
Wet Bar w/Sink
NAME ON TRANSOM
COAST GUARD EQUIPMENT
FULL TANK OF FUEL
ELIGIBLE “GETAWAYSâ€
HULL WARRANTY FROM MFG
EMERGENCY SERVICE
CHECK ALL SYSTEMS - MEW

We wanted the other head, too but they said the same to us, 2-4 thousand to upgrade the head.

We didn't even negotiate on price, it was what we wanted, and that was a sale because of a show in Miami. They threw in $300 to spend in the store. The sales experience was really great, we had a blast. We talk with the sales rep weekly and he has helped set up warrenty service and invites to boat shows, T-shirts and other give-aways.

......FULL TANK OF FUEL...

Try these two steps:

#1 Take the boat for a nice long weekend ride. Call the dealer and tell them they did not give you a full tank of gas and they need to come and fix this at their expense.

#2 Repeat

Really funny you mentioned this. We got the boat delivered and it had 3/4 of a tank so the sale rep said next time we fill it up, it was on them!

I’d make sure I was close to running on fumes before they ‘top it off’
