My boat for the entire season has had electrical issues. First the genny has not been right since I picked the boat up in the spring. It would shut off and display an UU error code. Clarks Landing my local Sea Ray dealer came out to fix it. They thought it was the impeller, it wasn't. The replaced the fuel filter again, gave it a complete tune up, still not fixed. The updated the software, still not fixed. This is all within 1 1/2 months. Finally 2 weeks ago Kohler came out to look at it and they claim it's the ECM, the part was not in stock of course which takes 10 days so hopefully this week I will have my genny back.
Last weekend, after Kohler was out I took the boat out for a cruise and the SmartCraft started displaying alarms, after cruising on plan for 15 minutes and coming off plan is when the alarms start. I received alarms about engine two under power, over heating, pitot sensor not working (which it's not), fuel sender not working, and etc.. According to the gauges not the SmartCraft view the boat is running fine, it's just the SmartCraft which is having the issues. TECHNOLOGY!
So I thought it would be in my best interest to drop the boat off at Clarks Landing, which I do last weekend. During the week Clarks called me and said the SmartCraft was fixed, they thought two wires in the main breaker panel were accidentally switched, an orange and a red wire while Kholer was on the boat. They test drive the boat and no alarms. Yesterday I picked the boat up and after 20 minutes cruising and coming off plan all the alarms started going off. Very frustrating! They are coming out tomorrow to look at it again but has anyone else had like issues?

No, but my genny is a little older technology and doesn't have the error codes - it just quits for one of the 3 standard reasons to protect itself, but that hasn't happened in years now.

As far as the SC goes, I'm glad you have the experts on it because they will have the diagnostic capabilities that you may not have (instruments). If your boat was older, I would advise you to start checking grounding wires and wire bundle connectors - they get fouled. Yours is probably too new for that. Good luck. They'll likely figure it out sooner or later.

It's been a really hot summer, I have a 4 year old and a 10 month old, not having A/C has limited my boating experience. Hopefully the genny will be fixed this week, now I need Sea Ray to fix the SmartCraft and I should be in good shape, I hope.

We have the same boat. No electrical issues like you mention above. I was however surprised about Sea Ray workmanship. For example I had cockpit speakers not connected and the front windlass buttons not connected. Don't they check this stuff before the boat leaves the factory?

Apparently not. I've been okay on electrical issues so far, but found numerous areas where SR neglected to use any sealant. So far I've had to repair leaky wiper mounts, forward deck hatch, all the fixtures on the radar arch, etc. I had to have the dealer repair the transducers for lack of sealant, and totally re-fiberglass the shaft tubes.

Additionally, I've had numerous gel coat/fiberglass issues with the arch cracking (probably due to the stupid "soft top" that leaks constantly during even the lightest rain) and cracks in the gel around radius's.

I love the boat, but SR quality is not what it used to be.

BTW - When I re-sealed the hatch, I found all of the screw holes had stress cracks because the morons didn't champher the edges, and two of the screws missed their mark and went right down the edge of the cutout. Same thing for the speaker enclosure near the helm, they missed the mark completely and just left it like that. I had to fiberglass in a piece of wood just have something to hold the enclosure in.:smt013:smt013:smt013:smt013:smt013:smt013

I like my 2002 more and more...

When was your boat built? My 2007 was built in June of 2006. I did notice that QC was slipping in my 2007. In the end everything has been good. But lot's of little issues, took a year and half to get everything fixed and it got to the point where you would hear excuse after excuse which led to heated discussions with MM.

Well Mercury is sending me a new SmartCraft monitor/screen and a new water pump for starboard engine at no charge. The current SmartCraft on the boat will not save the update they downloaded which is causing all the alarms. Hopefully today or tomorrow the boat will be fixed, great service by my local Sea Ray dealer Clarks Landing and Mercury. Now I just need Kohler to get me the part for my genny which hasn't worked all season. According to the Clarks Landing technician Kohler is having issues with a lot of the generators on boats.

We had a leak in the radar arch canvas that I traced to the plastic guide that the arch canvas slides into. This guide runs the width of the radar from port to stbd and was not sealed along the top of the arch. Water would wick in the seam between the guide and the gelcoat radar arch and drip everywhere along the inside of the canvas. MarineMax sealed the seam and most of the leaks were eliminated. Take a look along this seam and see if it's sealed.
