1988 268 Sundancer

Scary to hear about the work truck, but I must say your boat is amazing. It looks as clean if not more so than a new one. Very, very impressive!

Damn that is a nice looking boat, Every time I see one of your post I think that. Classic Sea Ray lines, That thing is sweet.

What do you pull that with? Any idea on the weight with the trailer?

I have the exact same boat but with a single big block. Mine weighs exactly 9320lbs on the trailer with 20 gallons of fuel.

He has twin engines, so he will be 300-500 lbs more. My boat is a little on the heavy side for your average 268. This is because I recently rebuilt the entire hull/stringers/transom and the glasswork is extra thick.

I pull mine with a Chevy 1500HD with the 6.0ltr and heavy duty trans. Never any issues, but you definitely need a heavy duty truck.

I pull mine with a 06 2500 Ram Cummins MEGA CAB. love that mega cab.

Getaway,

How sure are you on the weight? I swear I read from the 1986 Sea Ray brochure that the Dry Weight for an 1986 268 was around 5,500 lbs. I'm assuming that was with a single engine (350/260?), so I added another 800 lbs for the twin screws and another 1500 lbs for fuel and water. I purchase a 8,000 lbs trailer a few years ago. If your numbers are correct, I'm maxing out my trailer...

Your ok with that trailer , 9300 lbs WITH the trailer and fuel and gear, is about right. sounds like he has ran it across a Cat scale.

Thanks Just Me.

Please know that I meant no offense with my comments regarding priorities and making time for yourself. I was thinking that you were spending all your time working. I'm feel foolish regarding the comments I made. :-(

If you were to sell your boat and trailer, I can just imagine the fixed smile the new owner would have on his/her face no matter what they paid for your setup.

Just Me,

Do you possibly have pics of your boat sitting on your custom trailler at the transom? I would be interest in knowing if you are using two rolls of bunks plus rollers? I can't see the lower bunks just behind the bow, so I'm thinking your boat is sitting on rollers for the front half.

James

Look on page 12 Post 111 , thats all i find right now. so it has at least 6 bunks.
