Anyone have info on a 1999 sedan bridge 55 with the 3406 e cat engines looking for info on the engines??? Past issues??? And also what the performance of this boat with that power???

The term bullet proof comes to mind re: the 3406. There were never any valve, aftercooler, soft block or any other problems associated with the 3406. I have run one 550DB but it had Detroits so I can't comment on the performance questions.

Are you sure the boat is a '99 550DB? Unlike auto mfrs, SeaRay WILL overlap models and there may be a 1999 550DB as well as the 1999 560DB that replaced it, but I've never seen one.

There is a local 1998 550 to the original poster and Seth, with 3406 Cats. Maybe that is the boat?

I personally love the 550 DB, I think it has great lines and the boat is massive for its size. Those cats are also among my favorite set of engines built.

I have a '95 550 with 3406C's and absolutely love it. The Cats are durable, quiet, don't smoke except at startup and will run forever if you take care of the maintenance.

The boat itself is a pleasure to cruise on. We've had as many as 22 on board for a Christmas boat parade and it was not overly crowded. For GW and me, it's a great boat to spend extended periods of time on. We have a 4KW inverter so we don't have to run the genset if we want coffee (etc.) in the morning, there's plenty of room, the headroom is more than adequate, the beds are comfortable; there's just nothing we do not like about the boat.

We slow cruise at 1000 rpm's at around 10.8kts. If I want to run on plane I bump the throttles up to around 1750 rpm's (80% throttle) and we're doing right at 22-22.7kts. At WOT at 2150 rpm's we can run flat out at 30.3-30.5kts. But at WOT we're burning 65 gph, so that takes a lot of the fun out of doing it.

If you have any specific questions or comments, fire away! Also, FWIW, my boat came from your back yard. I found it on YachtWorld at MacRay Harbor. We had it torn down, shipped on two trucks/trailers to Portland, OR where it was put back together and some additional equipment added.

Yep I know that sea ray overlaps models I own a 1999 450 sundancer now and the 460 was also at the same time. But if you check sea ray archives you can not find a 1999 450 dancer ???i have seen a few 98 models but this has been the only 99 I have found and the serial numbers match???

Really it's a nice locking yacht. Do you remember the name on the boat ??? I harbored at Mac ray for many years prior to moving to algonac Harbour club. Is your hull a full fiberglass layup or does it have balsa coring ??? I really like the looks and the room on this boat.
