2003 420 Sundancer

2003 ,420, wondering if they used any wood coring on this year, if so where?
And what to look for on hull? Any problem areas?
Im having Cummins checking out motors and trans.
Also using a boat surveyer. Just trying to see if there are any areas of concern I should look or ask about.

Great boat. Great motors. Make sure the raw water components have been serviced (heat exchangers, Sherwood 1730 water pumps and ESPECIALLY aftercoolers!!!! - check boatdiesel.com for servicing tips). If so and the price is right, have a blast!

I would contact Sea Ray customer support to see if there is coring, I know in 2007 the 44DA (the rebadged 42) there is not in the hull but there is in the deck.

If there is wet coring (hull or deck) only way to tell from surface is extreme flexing which will usually show a ton of spider cracks in gelcoat. If that occurs its because the wood has rotted and no longer laminated to skins. Well before that happens you can just have wet core, which if the leak is stopped will take much longer to rot than if continually allowed to be re-soaked. The only way to "see" that is a combo of moisture meters, knocking and/or thermal imaging and best left to experienced surveyors.
