Can anyone recommend a trailer brand that could carry a 37 Sundancer (95-99 model), I am looking to use it for haull out purposes and not for road use (the 37 is too wide for Aussie roads) any info would be usefull.

I'll jump in...but there will probably be better responses. It isn't an issue of "make" or "model" of trailer. It is an issue of capacity. There was a thread earlier about a very well known boat trailer that was total crap, and I have seen handmade trailers at marinas that can haul out battleships.

Get the gross weight numbers for your boat, and be sure that the trailer you are looking for has the weight rating to haul it. Most trailers have adjustable bunks (the rails the boat rides on) and you can also adjust the front support forward or back to get most of the weight so that the downforce on the trailer tongue is in the proper range for the tow vehicle. Trailers seem surprisingly (at least to me) flexible.

For something that big, and for only haul-outs, I would go with a custom built rig. You can save on brakes that way by not installing them, etc etc.

Surely your not going to have the only boat in the area, what do others use and who made them? If anyone knows of a brand here, it's not going to be made in AU and would cost some serious money to have shipped. Is there even a ramp close by that you can wet load a 41' boat?, there's not one anywhere in my area. Is there not a travel lift within a 2-3 hr boat ride of your marina/mooring? I would think it would be easier/cheaper to take a ride than to deal with a trailer of that size.

My Hostar Trailer that only does 34' and 22,000 lbs is a $65,000 trailer! Get your checkbook ready to buy one that will hold a 37' Sea Ray. Probably be at least 20K if its just bunks and no hydraulics. I would suggest finding a company like ours nearby that has a hydraulic trailer and can set the boat in your yard and pick it up in the spring. Sorry it does not answer your question.

Are you looking to use the trailer to pull it out of the water with or have it lifted out and just store it on? Seems like a lot of expense for storage. If it is just storage then I would look for an old heavy equipment low boy trailer and put a cradle on it, ether way you are going to need a pretty hefty truck to pull it.

Thanks for the input guys, I was quoted 7k from a trailer manufacturer American Built in FLorida for a new tri-axle rated to 18000LB, we need it also to store the boat on during Cyclone season from Jan-march as we have no lift out at the Marina so I need a dual purpose to take it out for any major maintenance as well as the cyclone store - has anyone had a trailer from Americal Built!

Sean
