Haven't we just completed a whole thread on this? And you thanked everyone?

How do you remove the instrument panel on the bridge? It looks like it might just snap out, but I don't want to force it.

Thanks.

Hi All,

Last week we closed on our "new to us" 400 Sedan Bridge. The PO took our beloved 370 DA on trade, plus some cash. Her home port was about 60 miles from ours so we brought her up last Saturday and she performed beautifully. Did most of the trip on plane at 18-19 knots which was about 3400 RPM on the Horizon gassers. We love it!

My first question is about the windshield covers, it came with both a white sunbrella type cover and a black, screen type cover. The black cover is quite weather worn and I was curious if anyone knew a good place to have another made? I will call some local canvas shops but I thought I would inquire here first. It's amazingly light and folds up very small so the thought of purchasing elsewhere may be a consideration.

I'm sure I will have many more questions as time goes on regarding this great boat.

Thanks in advance!

In our area, most people use the screening material in white or black (depending upon esthetics and heat retention need) in either 70% block or 90% block. I have sun shades made from 90% we use at anchor, but the panels beside the helm seat are 70% so I can run the boat with them in place. Blocking the sun avoids sun damage to you, and the interior fabrics and keeps the boat cooler, but some people want to see out but don't want to climb up on the deck and remove the curtains when they do.

Enjoy the new boat...........

We had a black screen and a canvas sunbrella cover made by a local canvas shop. The screen is used 90% of the time due to the dark cave feel with the canvas on. I would guess the screen is 70% blockage and does a nice job helping the salon A/C.

Randerson,

Boatswain's locker is the company that made all of the canvas, windshield cover for my 2001 so I would think that made it for the 1998 model as well. Their number is 888-383-1179

Scuba,

Thanks for the information, I am going to give them a call. Their website does list both of our boats, 1995-2003 400DB.

Hi All I recently installed a Kvh M1 on my 40 DB it is mounted on the port side of the radar arch on a 6 inch mount .The system works great at the dock. The problem is when I move to another location and the antenna does not have a clear view to the south west I do not pick up a signal.I think my problem is that the radar mount is blocking the signal. I have seen other boats with the same mounting set up and I assume that they work.Any recommendations how to fix this problem. Thanks

Mine look the same but I haven't done anything about it. Have you checked out the price of replacing them. Sea Ray might be a good source.

Hey guys. Was wondering if anyone has successfully mounted a pwc( sea doo) on the swim platform of a 1999 400 sedan or similar? Think it can handle the weight? What kind of David system would you recommend? Thx a lot in advance

I recently had my factory platform rebuilt with a new core. It is very solid but I would question the weight of a PWC. I would contact Sea Ray and ask for weight limit recomendation. Good Luck.

Has anyone measured their 400DB for bridge clearance with the canvas up? I found a 14' spec but I'm unsure of how it was measured. We are considering a trip into the Erie Canal at Tonawanda NY that has a 15' fixed bridge at the entrance. I hope to get an accurate measurment next weekend.

Thanks

Bill

My 450EB is 18, and I suspect your's is about the same. Best to measure yourself. But 15 ft sounds way too low.

I generally don't push it at less than 17'. It is somewhere between 16'9" and 17'; depends on load ( I did fabricate a stainless hinge to fold my radar down (forward, stops just short of the canvas) to gain a couple of inches.

Hi all. We just bought a 2000 400db last week. Spent the last 7 days on her learning a lot. Has anyone updated the Clarion radio? We would like to listen to our iPad tunes. We noticed some pooling of water on the port side rear deck next to the door to the swim platform, any ideas what might be causing the problem? Many great ideas on this forum!

I'm looking for recommendations on a new radar stand where I can incorporate both radar (closed or open array) and satellite dish together. If your happy with the setup, lets see some pics!!
